The 2016–17 Polish Cup was the 60th edition of the Polish Men's Volleyball Cup, Polish Volleyball Cup tournament. ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle won the 6th Polish Cup in club history after beating the title defenders, Skra Bełchatów, PGE Skra Bełchatów. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Basic play The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Trefl Gdańsk, previously known as Lotos Trefl Gdańsk, is a professional men's volleyball club based in Gdańsk in northern Poland. The club was founded in 2005 and promoted to PlusLiga, the top flight of Polish volleyball in 2011. Benjamin Toniutti
Benjamin Toniutti (born 30 October 1989) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as a setter for and captains both the Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel and the France national team. Toniutti won a gold medal in the men's tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and is the 2015 European Champion and the 2021 Champions League winner with ZAKSA. Personal life Toniutti was born and raised in Alsace by his father Maurizio, an Italian French, and French mother Cathy. His parents often travel to attend Toniutti's league matches. Łukasz Wiśniewski (born 3 February 1989) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as a middle blocker for Skra Bełchatów. He is a former member of the Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland national team. Personal life Wiśniewski was born in Włodawa. His mother trained handball and his father is a former association football, footballer. On 10 May 2014, Wiśniewski married Katarzyna (née Łuszczewska). Robert Milczarek
Robert Milczarek (born 28 November 1983) is a Polish former professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Poland national team in 2005, and played most of his career for Skra Bełchatów in the Polish PlusLiga. Career Club Milczarek spent the 2013–14 season playing for Lotos Trefl Gdańsk. In 2014 he moved to MKS Będzin where he played as a libero. On 5 June 2015 for the third time in his career he came back to Skra Bełchatów. On 7 February 2016, he won the Polish Cup after beating ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the final. In April 2016 he won a bronze medal of the Polish Championship. Kévin Peter Patrice Tillie (born 2 November 1990) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for Projekt Warsaw and the France national team. Tillie won gold medals in the men's tournament at both the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, and the European Champion title in 2015. Personal life Tillie was born in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France. Artur Kacper Szalpuk (born 20 March 1995) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for Projekt Warsaw and the Poland national team. Szalpuk won a gold medal at the 2018 World Championship held in Italy. Career National team On 2 April 2015, Szalpuk was called up to the Poland national team by head coach Stéphane Antiga. After the training camp in Spała he went to team B of Polish national team led by Andrzej Kowal. He took part in 1st edition of 2015 European Games, where his national team took 4th place.
