2016–17 Polish Cup
The 2016–17 Polish Cup was the sixty-third season of the annual Polish football knockout tournament. It began on 16 July 2016 with the first matches of the Preliminary Round and ended on 2 May 2017 with the Final at PGE Narodowy. Winners of the competition will qualify for the qualifying tournament of the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League. The Stadion Narodowy (, ), known for sponsorship reasons as the PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, PGE Narodowy since 2015 (with patron being added in 2021), is a retractable-roof football (soccer), football stadium located in Warsaw, Poland. It is used mostly for concerts and football matches and is the home stadium of the Poland national football team, Poland national team. Zagłębie Lubin S.A. () is a Polish professional association football, football club based in Lubin. Founded in 1945 as ''OMTUR Lubin'', the club competes in the Ekstraklasa. History The football team was founded in 1945 as OMTUR Lubin by local members of the ''Youth Organization of the Association of Workers’ Universities'' (''Organizacja Młodzieży Towarzystwa Uniwersytetów Robotniczych, OMTUR''). History The club was essentially founded on 11 July 1997, although it can trace its roots back to 1907. That year ''Bielitzer Fussball Klub'' (''FK Bielitz'') was established, in the town of Bielitz, Austria-Hungary, then dominated by ethnic Germans and so was the club. In 1911, the club was renamed to ''Bielitz-Bialaer Sport Verein'' (''BBSV''). Since 1920, the town, known henceforth as Bielsko, belonged to Poland, after the country regained independence.
