2016–17 Montenegrin First League
The 2016–17 Montenegrin First League (known as 1. CFL 2016–17) was the eleventh season of the top-tier football in Montenegro. FK Mladost Podgorica, Mladost Podgorica are the defending champions. The season began on 6 August 2016 and ended on 27 May 2017; the relegation play-offs will follow. Format of competition A total of 12 teams will participate in this edition of the First Montenegrin League. FK Mornar, Mornar was relegated to 2016–17 Montenegrin Second League. They were replaced with FK Jedinstvo Bijelo Polje. This is the last season of Prva CFL with 12 participants. From the 2017–18 season, there will be 10 clubs in the top-tier rank of Montenegro. At the end of the 2016–17 season, the three worst-placed teams in the league will be directly relegated to the Second Montenegrin League. Montenegrin First League
The Montenegrin First League (Montenegrin language, Montenegrin: ''Prva crnogorska fudbalska liga'' — ''Prva CFL'' — ''1. CFL''; ), referred to as the Meridianbet 1. CFL for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional Association football, football league in Montenegro. Founded in 2006, competition is headed by the Football Association of Montenegro. 10 teams participate in this league. The winner of the Montenegrin First League starts the qualifications for the UEFA Champions League from the second round. The second and third placed teams and Montenegrin Cup winner play in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League. FK Iskra Danilovgrad
Fudbalski klub Iskra (English: Football Club Iskra) is a Montenegrin professional football club based in Danilovgrad. They currently compete in the Montenegrin Second League. History FK Iskra was founded in 1919, under the name ''RSK Sloga Danilovgrad''. Since 1929, the team played under the name ''RSK Zmaj'', with their first-ever performance in the Montenegrin Football Championship in season 1933–34. After World War II, the team started to play under the name FK Iskra. First significant success, FK Iskra made with promotion to the Montenegrin Republic League 1948–49. Another historical success, FK Iskra made in summer 1956. After playoff games against FK Bokelj, the team from Danilovgrad gained their first-ever promotion to the Yugoslav Second League (1956–57), but finished as a last-placed team. Stadion Donja Sutvara
Stadion Donja Sutvara is a football stadium in Radanovići, Municipality of Kotor, Montenegro. It is used for football matches and is the home turf of OFK Grbalj. The stadium holds 1,500 people. History The stadium was built in 1995 near the village Donja Sutvara, on the outskirts of Radanovići. It is situated near the main road between Kotor and Budva and is the home turf of OFK Grbalj. In 2004, Donja Sutvara stadium was renovated to meet the criteria for games in the Montenegrin First League. The stadium consists of one level with a capacity of 1,500 seats. Edis Mulalić
Edis Mulalić (born 23 October 1975) is a Bosnian professional football manager and former player. Born in Sarajevo, he is best known for playing for hometown club Željezničar, making over 300 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has also managed the club on two occasions. Club career Born in Sarajevo, SFR Yugoslavia, Mulalić started his career with hometown club Željezničar. He played for the club on four occasions, winning three league titles, two cups and three supercups. He played 220 league games for Željezničar and 322 games in all competitions. Stadion Tuško Polje
Stadium Tuško Polje is a football stadium in Tuzi, Podgorica, Montenegro. It is used for football matches and is the home ground of FK Dečić. History During the decades, at location Tuško Polje existed football pitch which didn't meet criteria for official games. So, FK Dečić, a football club from Tuzi, played their home games in Podgorica or Golubovci. But in 2006, a new stadium was built. The first game played at Stadium Tuško Polje was played on 19 August 2006. At second week of the 2006-07 Montenegrin First League, FK Dečić hosted Montenegrin strongest side FK Budućnost (0-3) in front of 3,000 spectators. That was a record attendance at Stadium Tuško Polje. The stadium was renovated several times, so today it has a capacity of 2,000 seats on two stands. Miodrag Vukotić
Miodrag Vukotić (, born 8 November 1973) is a Montenegrin retired footballer who played as a defender. Playing career Born in Titograd, SR Montenegro, back in SFR Yugoslavia (nowadays Podgorica, Montenegro), during his adventurous career, he played for FK Budućnost Podgorica and FK Vojvodina, before moving to Italy, where he started with a short 6-month spell with A.C. Milan, then later to Empoli on loan. He continued his career at Swiss club BSC Young Boys, Montenegrin clubs FK Mogren and FK Zeta, German club Waldhof Mannheim and finally, Austrian club SV Ried. Podgorica City Stadium ( cnr-Latn, Stadion pod Goricom, Стадион под Горицом) is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Podgorica, Montenegro. Its seating capacity changed over the years due to several renovations, as of 2019 it has 11,080 seats. The stadium is the home ground of the Montenegro national team and Budućnost. History Podgorica City Stadium was built in 1945, following World War II. Before the war, Budućnost and other clubs from Podgorica played their matches in a field near that location. The stadium's original capacity was around 5,000 spectators. The stadium burned down completely in 1952, but was later rebuilt, with a new capacity of about 17,000 seats. Stadion Pod Vrmcem
Stadion Pod Vrmcem is a football stadium in Kotor, Montenegro. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FK Bokelj. The stadium holds 1,000 people. History The first football ground in Kotor was situated at Rakite suburb, near the Adriatic coast. At the same location, after 1945, a new ground was built. The stadium was renovated few times. It's situated near the beach in Bay of Kotor and it's the home ground of FK Bokelj. Except Bokelj's matches, at the Stadion pod Vrmcem, every year is playing final match of Nikša Bućin Cup, competition for Third League clubs from south Montenegro. Radanovići, Kotor
Radanovići ( Montenegrin Cyrillic: Радановићи) is a small town in the municipality of Kotor, Montenegro. Town is also part and largest settlement of historical rural region of Grbalj at the coastal region of Montenegro. Kotor
Kotor (Cyrillic script, Cyrillic: Котор, ), historically known as Cattaro (from Italian language, Italian: ), is a town in Coastal Montenegro, Coastal region of Montenegro. Tuzi
Tuzi (, ; or ''Tuzi'') is a small town in the central region of Montenegro, and the seat of Tuzi Municipality. It is located along a main road between the city of Podgorica and the Albanian border crossing, just a few kilometers north of Lake Skadar. The Church of St. Anthony and Qazimbeg's Mosque are located in the centre of the town. Golubovci
Golubovci (, ) is a small town in the new Zeta Municipality of Montenegro. Until 2022, it was part of Podgorica Municipality. Golubovci is the seat of the new municipality. The town has 3,110 residents according to 2011 census, while the surrounding Zeta Municipality accounts for some 16,093 residents. Transport Podgorica Airport is occasionally referred to as Golubovci Airport by locals, due to its proximity to the town. Golubovci is located next to the M-2, Podgorica - Bar road ( E65/ E80), main Montenegrin road connection between the coast and northern part of the country.
