The 2016–17 Luge World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for luge, organised by the FIL.The season started on 26 November 2016 in Winterberg, Germany and ended on 25 February 2017 in Altenberg, Germany. Roman Repilov
Roman Alexandrovich Repilov (; born 5 March 1996) is a Russian luger. Competitive career Representing Russia at the 2015–16 Luge World Cup, Repilov placed second in the sprint event in Calgary with a time of 30.279. On 2 December 2016, he came in fifth in the Lake Placid event of the Men's Singles 2016-17 Luge World Cup, but set a new Lake Placid track start record of 6.359 seconds. Later in the same season, he triumphed in the men's singles event at Park City, Utah, came in second twice, in Winterberg, Germany and Sigulda, Latvia and won two men's singles sprint events in Park City and Sigulda. During the 2017–18 Luge World Cup season Repilov triumphed at Lake Placid and in doing so shattered the track record which had just been set first by his teammate Semen Pavlichenko the previous day and again by the American slider Tucker West in the previous heat of the finals, with a time of 50.875 seconds. Johannes Ludwig
Johannes Ludwig (born 14 February 1986) is an Olympic gold medal-winning German luger who has competed since 1996. He won a bronze medal in the Team relay event at the FIL European Luge Championships 2010 in Sigulda. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Ludwig won the bronze medal in the Luge at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's singles, men's singles luge and the gold in the team relay luge, along with his teammates Natalie Geisenberger, Tobias Wendl, and Tobias Arlt. Birgit Platzer
Birgit Platzer (born 14 October 1992 in Kirchdorf an der Krems) is an Austrian luger. Platzer competed for Austria at the 2014 Winter Olympics. In the Women's singles she placed 23rd. As of September 2014, her best performance at the FIL World Luge Championships is 16th, in the 2012 Championships, and her best Luge World Cup overall finish is 19th in 2012–13. Dajana Eitberger
Dajana Eitberger (born 7 January 1991) is a German luger. She currently represents Germany in the women's doubles event in the Luge World Cup. Career During the 2014–15 Luge World Cup season she was victorious in one event which was the final race of the season in Sochi. During that season she came in second twice and third four time and finished second in the overall standing behind her teammate, Natalie Geisenberger. The event in Sochi and doubled as the European championship and as such she is the current European champion. During the 2015–16 Luge World Cup Eitberger was on the winners platform on the podium once (at the season opener in Igls), was second twice and third three times. She once again finished the season sixth in the standings. Eitberger won the silver medal at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, again behind Natalie Geisenberger. Tatjana Hüfner (born 30 April 1983) is a German retired luger who has competed since 2003. Career She won the bronze medal in the women's singles at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
