2016–17 Logan Cup
The 2016–17 Logan Cup was the 23rd edition of the Logan Cup, a first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe. It was held between December 2016 and May 2017. Mountaineers won the tournament, following a draw against Mashonaland Eagles in round 8 of the competition. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be played across twelve rounds, with each team playing each other four times. However, the start of the tournament was postponed because of logistical challenges, with the opening matches rescheduled to take place a week later than originally planned. The opening fixture between Mid West Rhinos and Matabeleland Tuskers was interrupted at the start of day three with a strike by the players. The protest was led by domestic players, as they had not been paid in November. Matabeleland Tuskers forfeited the second innings of the match, and therefore Mid West Rhinos won the game. Zimbabwe Cricket
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), previously known as the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) until 2004, is the governing body for the sport of cricket in Zimbabwe. Mutare
Mutare, formerly known as Umtali until 1982, is the capital and largest city in the province of Manicaland. It is the third most populated in Zimbabwe. Owen Chirombe
Owen Chirombe (born 30 March 1973), is a Zimbabwean cricket umpire. He first umpired at the first-class level in 2005, and in an international match in 2010, in a One Day International between Zimbabwe and Ireland. Bulawayo
Bulawayo (, ; ) is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland region. The city's population is disputed; the 2022 census listed it at 665,940, while the Bulawayo City Council claimed it to be about 1.2 million. Queens Sports Club
Queens Sports Club Ground is a stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It is used primarily used for cricket matches. The stadium has a capacity of up to 13,000. The stadium is the home ground for the Matabeleland Tuskers, who are the current Logan Cup champions. The other cricket ground in Bulawayo is the Bulawayo Athletic Club.Heatley, pp. 190. Not Out
In cricket, a batsman is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batsman is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with, so the innings ends. Sean Colin Williams (born 26 September 1986) is a Zimbabwean Zimbabwe cricket team, international cricketer who is a former captain of the national team in Test cricket. Prince Spencer Masvaure (born 7 October 1988) is a Zimbabwean first-class cricketer. In July 2016, he was named in Zimbabwe's Test squad for their series against New Zealand. Declaration And Forfeiture
In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares their team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the '' Laws of Cricket''. Brian Bara Chari (born 14 February 1992) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his international debut for the Zimbabwe national cricket team in November 2014. Domestic career A top-order batsman and occasional off break bowler, Chari has played domestically for the Matabeleland Tuskers since 2011. Brian Vitalis Vitori (born 22 February 1990) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He has played Test and ODI matches for Zimbabwe. Domestic career Vitori made his List A debut for Masvingo during the 2005–06 Faithwear Clothing Inter-Provincial Competition, playing in all three of Masvingo's games, taking three wickets at an average of 12.00.
