2016–17 Gamma Ethniki Cup
The 2016–17 Gamma Ethniki Cup is the 3rd season of the competition, since its official establishment in 2013, and the first to take place after the 2015–16 edition was not held. In this competition, only the clubs of the Gamma Ethniki can participate. The 2016–17 Gamma Ethniki Cup winner will compete at the end of the season with the winner of the 2016–17 Amateurs' Cup for the Amateurs' Super Cup Greece. First round In first round of the competition, the clubs in each group compete against each other in singles matches (overtime and penalties apply) until one club is declared Group winner. The pairs are the result of random drawing. The match days of the First Round have been set for 16 October 2016 for Match-Day 1, 13 November 2016 for Match-Day 2, 14 December 2016 for Match-Day 3 and 22 February 2017 for each Group Final. P.A.E. Pierikos () is a Greek football club based in Katerini, Greece, part of the major multi-sport club S.F.K. Pierikos (). Their name was inspired from the State's name of Pieria. The club competes in Gamma Ethniki. History of the club The foundation The club was founded on 11 April 1961 from the merger between Megas Alexandros (meaning Alexander the Great) Katerinis and Olympos Katerinis. Megas Alexandros had played in the 1st Division of Greek football in its first season ( 1959–60) but finished in the 15th position and thus relegated in the 2nd Division. Eordaikos Football Club (Εορδαϊκός Φ.Σ.) (former Ptolemaida-Lignitorikhi) is a football club based in Ptolemaida, Greece. History The club named Eordaikos 2007 is following the history of Eordaikos which is one of the better known football clubs in Western Macedonia. Eordaikos was created in 1978 from the merge of two Ptolemaida teams, the team of ''Aris Ptolemaidas'' with former presence in the second division and ''Ptolemaios'', playing in the second and third division of the Greek tier and having successful runs in the Greek cup.
