2016–17 Eredivisie (women)
The 2016–17 Eredivisie Vrouwen was the seventh season of the Netherlands women's professional football league. The season took place from 2 September 2016 to 26 May 2017 with eight teams. Defending champions FC Twente finished second behind Ajax, who won their first Dutch championship. Teams On 16 June 2016, Achilles '29 was confirmed as the eighth team of the season. Source: Soccerway Format The league adopted a new split-season format, which was used through the 2020–21 season. In the regular season, the eight teams played each other three times, for a total of 21 matches each. After those matches, the top four teams would qualify for a championship play-off and the bottom four teams would play a placement play-off. Teams played the other teams in their group twice, for a total of 6 matches. The Vrouwen Eredivisie (; Dutch for "Honour Division"; ''Eredivisie Vrouwen'' before 2020), also known as the Eurojackpot Vrouwen Eredivisie due to a sponsorship contract, is the highest women's association football, women's football league in the Women's football in the Netherlands, Netherlands. Organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), it was established in 2007 as a professional league and played for five seasons until 2012, when the Netherlands and Women's football in Belgium, Belgium merged their leagues into a single combined league, the BeNe League. After three seasons, the BeNe League folded, and the Eredivisie restarted in the 2015–16 season. The top two Eredivisie teams each year qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League. Velsen
Velsen () is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is located on both sides of the North Sea Canal. On the north side of the North Sea Canal there is a major steel plant, Tata Steel IJmuiden, formerly known as ''Koninklijke Hoogovens'' (the town of IJmuiden is actually located south of the canal). The headquarters of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij is located in IJmuiden. Telstar (women)
Vrouwenvoetbal Kennemerland e.o. (VVK) or Telstar Vrouwen is a Dutch women's football club based in Velsen, North Holland that plays in the Dutch top level Eredivisie. It is affiliated with men's team SC Telstar, sharing a logo and home stadium, 711 Stadion. The club was established in 2011 as ''Sportclub Telstar Vrouwenvoetbal Noord-Holland'' and played in the Eredivisie and BeNe League. In the 2016–17 season, future Dutch national striker Katja Snoeijs led the league with 21 goals. After that season, the team relocated to Alkmaar and formed VV Alkmaar. In January 2022, media outlets reported Telstar, under the new VVK organization, would rejoin the Eredivisie the following season. De Herdgang
PSV Campus De Herdgang is a football training facility in Eindhoven, Netherlands. It serves as the training ground and youth academy of PSV and also accommodates its amateur teams. As of the 2014-15 season, Jong PSV play their home games at this facility. They play in de Eerste Divisie, the second level of Dutch football. History De Herdgang was built in 1952. The word ‘herdgang’ originates from triangular squares that marked the end of dirt roads. These spots were used as locations where herds of sheep could graze, with ‘herd’ referring to a herd of animals and ‘gang’ being Dutch for ‘way’ or ‘process’. In April 2002, PSV started work on a renovation of the training facilities: a new indoor training hall, a fitness centre, offices and a canteen were added. Jan Louwers Stadion
Jan Louwers Stadion () is a multi-use stadium in the Eindhoven borough of Stratum, Netherlands. Previously the stadium had a cinder track, with curved, earthen and walled standing grandstands on the north and south sides, so that attendances could still reach up to 18,000 visitors in the 1970s. It is currently used mostly for association football, football matches and is the home stadium of FC Eindhoven. The stadium is able to hold 4,200 people. The stadium is named after Jan Louwers. Jong PSV used to use it as their backup stadium. Heerenveen (, ) is a town and Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Friesland (Fryslân), in the Northern Netherlands. Sportcomplex De Toekomst (Dutch for ''Sporting complex The Future'') is a sporting complex in Ouder-Amstel, Netherlands, owned by AFC Ajax N.V. The complex comprises nine football fields and is located close to the Johan Cruyff Arena and on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Its main field has seating capacity for 2,250 people.
