2016–17 Denver Pioneers Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Denver Pioneers men's basketball team represented the University of Denver during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Pioneers, led by first-year head coach Rodney Billups, played their home games at Magness Arena and were members of The Summit League. They finished the season 16–14, 8–8 in Summit League play to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Summit League tournament to South Dakota State. Previous season The Pioneers finished the 2015–16 season 16–15, 7–9 in Summit League play to finish in sixth place. They defeated Nebraska–Omaha in the quarterfinals of The Summit League tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to South Dakota State. On March 11, head coach Joe Scott was fired. After college, he played professionally with ASK Riga, BK Riga of the Latvijas Basketbola līga, Latvian Basketball League and Kouvot of the Finnish Korisliiga before turning his attention to coaching. 16-17 is a band from Basel, Switzerland. Their music combines punk rock, hardcore punk, jazz and industrial music. Biography 16-17 was founded in 1983 by Alex Buess, Knut Remond and Markus Kneubühler. When the group played its first concerts in 1983 it was received with controversial reactions: there were hardly any groups that played in an approximately similar style. Only some years later around 1986 groups like Painkiller, Last Exit or The Flying Luttenbachers appeared . They played a similar mix of rough noise, heavily amplified instruments and free jazz inspired improvisation. 1983 to 1994 the group did a lot of tours and played many gigs all over Europe, Japan and USA. Ricardo Maurice Patton (born October 23, 1958) is an American college basketball coach who most recently served as senior advisor to the head men's basketball coach at Vanderbilt University. On March 9, 2011, NIU announced that Patton would not return as their head coach for the 2011–12 season, it is unclear whether he resigned or was fired. Kirtland is a town, made up of part of the former census-designated place (CDP) of the same name in San Juan County, New Mexico, United States.
