Martin Fourcade (; born 14 September 1988) is a retired French Biathlon, biathlete. He is a six-time Biathlon at the Winter Olympics, Olympic champion, a thirteen-time Biathlon World Championships, World Champion and a seven-time winner of the Biathlon World Cup, Overall World Cup. The 2016–17 Biathlon World Cup – World Cup 8 was held from 9 March until 12 March 2017. Initially it was planned to be held in Tyumen, Russia, but IBU cancelled the host rights for Russia. Simon Eder
Simon Eder (born 23 February 1983) is an Austrian biathlete. Career His first World Cup win was in the Khanty-Mansiysk mass-start race on 29 March 2009. Eder represented Austria at the 2010 Winter Olympics and in 2014 Winter Olympics. He won 2 medals: silver in the Men's relay in 2010, and a bronze in Men's relay in 2014. Both of the relays together with Daniel Mesotitsch, Dominik Landertinger and Christoph Sumann. Ondřej Moravec
Ondřej Moravec (; born 9 June 1984) is a former Czech biathlete. Life and career Moravec represented the Czech Republic at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he won silver medals in both the pursuit and the mixed relay (together with Jaroslav Soukup, Veronika Vítková and Gabriela Soukalová) and a bronze medal in the mass start. Lowell Bailey (born July 15, 1981 in Siler City, North Carolina) is an American biathlon coach and retired biathlete who competed from 2001 until 2018. Career His first World Cup podium was a 2nd place (following a disqualification) in the second sprint event at Kontiolahti (FIN) in 2014., and his first World Cup victory came in the 20 km event at the 2017 Biathlon World Championships in Hochfilzen, Austria. Ole Einar Bjørndalen (; born 27 January 1974) is a retired Norwegian professional biathlete and coach, often referred to by the nickname, the "King of Biathlon". Biathlon World Championships 2017
The 49th Biathlon World Championships was held from 9 to 19 February 2017 in Hochfilzen, Austria. There were a total of 11 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start, and relay races for men and women, and mixed relay. All the events during this championships also count for the Biathlon World Cup season. Host selection The second candidate city was Östersund, Sweden. Hochfilzen was selected as the host city on September 2, 2012 during the X IBU Congress in Merano, Italy (27 to 20 votes). Serhiy Semenov
Serhiy Oleksandrovych Semenov (; born 28 July 1988 in Chernihiv, Ukrainian SSR) is a Ukrainian biathlete. He is first Ukrainian male biathlete to win a World Cup title in a single discipline, having become World Cup champion in the individual in the 2014–15 season. He is two-time World Championships medalist. Career His first international competition was 2005 Junior Worlds but he participated only in individual race where he was 38th. He missed next season returning in 2007. In Martell he had much better achievements than previously. Next two years he mainly participated in junior competitions and only once in IBU Cup.
