The 2016–17 Belarusian Extraliga season was the 25th season of the Belarusian Extraleague, Belarusian Extraliga, the top level of ice hockey in Belarus. Twelve teams participated in the league, and HK Neman Grodno, Neman Grodno won the championship. Belarusian Extraleague
The Belarusian Extraleague, abbreviated BHL, also known as the BETERA Extraleague for sponsorship reasons, or known as the Belarusian Open Championship, (), officially formed in 2006, is the top ice hockey league in Belarus. In its past, it has switched several times between being and not being an open league (in reference to allowing foreign teams), but for the 2008–2009 season, the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association decided to open the Belarusian Extraleague, the Belarusian Premier League and the Belarusian junior leagues. Before the season 2018-2019 the Belarusian Extraleague was divided in two leagues: Extraleague A with 8 teams and Extraleague B with 9 teams. For the 2021-2022 season, this division into Extraleague A and Extraleague B was canceled, with 12 teams taking part in the single championship. Soligorsk
Salihorsk or Soligorsk (, ; , ) is a town in Minsk Region, Belarus. It serves as the administrative center of Salihorsk District. As of 2025, it has a population of 96,993. History The city is one of the country's newest settlements; its construction began in 1958. In May 1963, Salihorsk gained the status of a city/town (''gorod''), and by January 1964, the town already had more than 18,000 inhabitants. Novopolotsk or Navapolatsk (, ; , ) is a city in Vitebsk Oblast, Belarus. Founded in 1958, it is located close to the city of Polotsk and the name literally means "New Polotsk".
