2016 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 24 April 2016. Initially, the election were originally due to be held by March 2018, but on 17 January 2016 Prime Minister of Serbia, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić called for a snap election claiming Serbia "needs four more years of stability so that it is ready to Accession of Serbia to the European Union, join the European Union". The elections were held simultaneously with 2016 Vojvodina provincial election, provincial elections in Vojvodina and nationwide local elections. Voter turnout was 56%. Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party-led coalition retained its majority, winning 131 of the 250 seats. In contrast to the 2014 Serbian parliamentary election, 2014 elections, a record-breaking seven non-minority lists passed the 5% threshold. 2014 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 16 March 2014, with nineteen electoral lists competing for 250 members of the National Assembly. The election was called early, after tensions in the coalition led by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić scheduled the election at the same time as the previously announced Belgrade City Assembly election. Voter turnout was 53.09%, with 3.22% of votes invalid. The Serbian Progressive Party and their coalition won the election by a landslide, receiving just under half the valid votes and winning an absolute majority of 158 seats in the assembly. Its former partner the Socialist Party of Serbia matched its previous achievement with 44 seats, while only two more non-ethnic lists surpassed the 5% threshold: the Democratic Party (DS) with 19 seats, and the New Democratic Party coalition led by former president Boris Tadić with 18 seats. Liberal Democratic Party (Serbia)
The Liberal Democratic Party (, abbr. LDP) is a liberal political party in Serbia. It is led by Čedomir Jovanović. History The Liberal Democratic Party was founded on 5 November 2005 by former members of the Democratic Party, led by Čedomir Jovanović, who were expelled in a party purge in 2004. Jovanović had become critical of the new direction of the Democratic Party and its newly elected president, Boris Tadić. The LDP gained its first seat in parliament after Đorđe Đukić defected from the Democratic Party. Riza Halimi
Riza Halimi ( sr-cyr, Риза Халими; born 16 September 1947) is a Serbian politician. An ethnic Albanian, he was the president of the Party for Democratic Action from its foundation until 2018, and now serves as the honorary president of the party. Sulejman Ugljanin (; sr-cyrl, Сулејман Угљанин; born 20 November 1953) is a Serbian politician. An ethnic Bosniak, he has led the Party of Democratic Action of Sandžak since its establishment in 1990. Ugljanin was previously the president of the Bosniak National Council and a deputy in the National Assembly. He was the Mayor of Novi Pazar, and the former Minister without portfolio in the Government of Serbia between 2008 and 2014. Ugljanin holds a doctoral degree in stomatology from the University of Sarajevo. He is married and has four children. Muamer Zukorlić (; 15 February 1970 – 6 November 2021) was a Serbian politician and Islamic theology, Islamic theologian who served as the president and chief Mufti of the Islam in Serbia, Islamic Community in Serbia. The Justice and Reconciliation Party (; ; abbr. SPP), formerly known as the Bosniak Democratic Union of Sandžak (; ; abbr. István Pásztor (politician)
István Pásztor (; ; 20 August 1956 – 30 October 2023) was a Serbian politician who served as the president of the Assembly of Vojvodina from 2012 until his death in 2023. An ethnic Hungarian, he led the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians from 2008 to 2023. Biography István Pásztor was born in Novi Kneževac, SAP Vojvodina on 20 August 1956. He graduated from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law. In his later years, Pásztor was the chairman of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and president of the Assembly of Vojvodina. He was once a leader of the Hungarian Coalition, which also included two other ethnic Hungarian political parties in Serbia.
