2016 Ligue Haïtienne Season
The 2016 Ligue Haïtienne season was the 53rd season of top-tier football in Haiti. It began on 21 February 2016. The league is split into two tournaments—the ''Série d'Ouverture'' and the ''Série de Clôture''—each with identical formats and each contested by the same 18 teams. In a change from last year, the number of teams in the league has been reduced from 20 to 18. Teams At the end of the 2015 season, the bottom 4 teams in the aggregate table; Valencia, PNH, US Lajeune, and Racine FC; were relegated to the Haitian second level leagues. Replacing them were two clubs from the Haitian second level leagues; Réal du Cap and Juventus. Série d'Ouverture The 2016 Série d'Ouverture began on 20 February 2016 and ended on 28 May 2016. Stade Sylvio Cator
The Stade Sylvio Cator is a multi-purpose stadium in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It is currently used mostly for association football matches, and is turfed with artificial turf. History The stadium bears the name of Haitian Olympic medalist and footballer Sylvio Cator. It was named after him in 1952. Before then the stadium was called the ''Parc Leconte''. and then the ''Stade Paul-Magloire''. It is where the Haiti national football team play its home games. Artibonite (department)
Artibonite (; ) is one of the ten departments of Haiti located in central Haiti. With an area of 4,887 km2 it is Haiti's largest department. As of 2015, its estimated population was 1,727,524. The region is the country's main rice-growing area. The main cities are Gonaïves (the capital) and Saint-Marc. Saint-Marc (; ) is a List of communes of Haiti, commune in western Haiti in Artibonite (department), Artibonite departement. Its geographic coordinates are .
