The 2016 FIBA U16 European Championship was the 30th edition of the European Under-16 Basketball Championship. Sixteen teams participated in the competition, held in Radom, Poland, from 12 to 20 August 2016. Bosnia and Herzegovina, the defending champions, were relegated to the 2017 Division B. Luka Šamanić
Luka Šamanić (born 9 January 2000) is a Croatian professional basketball player for Saski Baskonia of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. A power forward, he was drafted 19th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2019 NBA draft. A native of Zagreb, Šamanić started his youth career with the KK Zagreb, eponymous basketball club. Dovydas Giedraitis (born August 17, 2000) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. Early career Giedraitis started his career in 2016, playing in the Lithuanian second-tier NKL with Ežerūnas Molėtai. FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship
The FIBA U16 EuroBasket is the new name for the FIBA U16 European Championship, originally known as the FIBA European Championship for Cadets. It's a men's youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year. The tournament serves as a qualification for the FIBA Under-17 World Cup in odd years, for the FIBA Europe region. The current champions are France. The 2017 FIBA U16 European Championship Division B was played in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 10 to 19 August 2017. 24 teams participated in the competition. Jonas Mattisseck (born 16 January 2000) is a German professional basketball player for Alba Berlin of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), and the EuroLeague. He plays the shooting guard position. Professional career Mattisseck began his career in the youth system of German club VfL Lichtenrade. Heading toward the 2015–16 season, Mattisseck moved to the youth club of TuS Lichterfelde for a year, before signing with Alba Berlin.
