The 2016 Canadian Grand Prix (formally known as the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2016) was a Formula One motor race that took place on 12 June 2016 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The race was the seventh round of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship and marked the fifty-third running of the Canadian Grand Prix as a round of the Formula One World Championship since the series' inception in . Canadian Grand Prix
The Canadian Grand Prix (french: Grand Prix du Canada) is an annual motor racing event held since 1961. It has been part of the Formula One World Championship since 1967. It was first staged at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, as a sports car event, before alternating between Mosport and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, after Formula One took over the event. After 1971, safety concerns led to the Grand Prix moving permanently to Mosport. In 1978, after similar safety concerns with Mosport, the Canadian Grand Prix moved to its current home at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Notre Dame Island in Montreal. In 2005, the Canadian Grand Prix was the most watched Formula One Grand Prix in the world. Marcus Thorbjörn Ericsson (; born 2 September 1990) is a Swedish professional racing driver. He competes in the NTT IndyCar Series, driving the No. 8 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing and is the 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner. Ericsson previously competed in Formula One between 2014 and 2018. Maurizio Arrivabene (born 7 March 1957) is an Italian manager and sports director. Arrivabene was team principal of Formula One team Scuderia Ferrari. He was appointed team principal in November 2014, replacing Marco Mattiacci, and was replaced by Mattia Binotto in January 2019. Career Arrivabene comes from a marketing and sales background.
