2015–16 Southend United F.C. Season
The 2015–16 season was Southend United's 110th year in existence and their first season back in League One after gaining promotion the previous season. Along with competing in League One, the club also participated in the FA Cup, League Cup and Football League Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016. Competitions Pre-season friendlies On 3 June 2015, Southend United announced their first confirmed pre-season friendly against Charlton Athletic. On 8 June 2015, a friendly against West Ham United. Phil Brown (footballer, Born 1959)
Philip Brown (born 30 May 1959) is an English former professional footballer and coach who was most recently manager of National League North club Kidderminster Harriers. As a player, Brown was a right-back who made over six hundred league appearances in an eighteen-year career, but never made it to the top flight. However, as a manager, he became the first to lead Hull City to the top division in their 104-year history, winning the Championship play-offs in 2008 after a 1–0 win against Bristol City at Wembley Stadium. He also guided Southend United to promotion from League Two to League One in 2014–15. Since 2011, Brown has appeared as a match summariser on BBC Radio 5 Live. Canvey Island
Canvey Island is a town, civil parish and reclaimed island in the Thames Estuary, near Southend-on-Sea, in the Castle Point district, in the county of Essex, England. It has an area of and a population of 38,170.Office for National Statistics. (2013)Statistics: Canvey Island It is separated from the mainland of south Essex by a network of creeks. Lying only just above sea level, it is prone to flooding at exceptional tides and has been inhabited since the Roman conquest of Britain. The North Sea flood of 1953 devastated the island, killing 58 islanders and leading to the temporary evacuation of the 13,000 residents. Jason Williams (footballer, Born 1995)
Jason Norrel Williams (born 28 September 1995) is an English footballer who plays for Tonbridge Angels. Career Williams began his career with Southend United and made his professional debut coming on for Michael Timlin on 15 February 2014 in a 3–2 defeat against Exeter City. In October 2014 Williams joined Chelmsford City initially on a one-month loan deal, which was later extended, where he was in impressive form, scoring five goals in seven league games. Williams returned on loan to Chelmsford City in January 2016 as one of interim manager Kevin Maher's first two signings, the other being fellow Southend United teammate Jack Bridge. After being released by Southend, Williams joined Concord Rangers in June 2017 but left the Beachboys before the start of the season to sign for Bishop's Stortford, where he scored on his debut in a defeat at Tiverton Town. Southend-on-Sea
Southend-on-Sea (), commonly referred to as Southend (), is a coastal city and unitary authorities of England, unitary authority area with Borough status in the United Kingdom, borough status in south-eastern Essex, England. It lies on the north side of the Thames Estuary, east of central London. It is bordered to the north by Rochford (district), Rochford and to the west by Castle Point. Luke Prosser
Luke Barrie Prosser (born 28 May 1988) is an English former professional footballer last played as a defender. He scored 17 goals in 423 league and cup appearances in a 15-year career. A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy, Prosser joined Port Vale in 2005. He spent five years at the club, also spending time on loan at Leigh RMI, Salisbury City, and Kidderminster Harriers. He moved on to Southend United in 2010, and was initially loaned out to Rushden & Diamonds. He played for Southend in the 2013 Football League Trophy final and was an unused substitute in the 2015 League Two play-off final victory. He was loaned out to Northampton Town in January 2016, and helped the club to win promotion as League Two champions in 2015–16. After being released by Southend, he joined Essex rivals Colchester United for a four-year stay starting in June 2016. He signed for Stevenage in August 2020 and stayed with the club for two seasons.
