2015–16 Serie A
The 2015–16 Serie A (known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons) was the 114th season of top-tier Italian football, the 84th in a round-robin tournament, and the 6th since its organization under a league committee separate from Serie B. Juventus were the defending champions. The campaign began on 22 August 2015 and ended on 15 May 2016. On 25 April 2016, Juventus succeeded in defending their title for the fifth consecutive season, after second placed Napoli lost to Roma, giving Juventus a 12-point lead with only three games left. The Serie A (), officially known as Serie A Enilive in Italy and Serie A Made in Italy abroad for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Italy and the highest tier of the Italian football league system. Established in the 1929–30 Serie A, 1929–30 season, it restructured the existing Italian Football Championship, which had been played since 1898 Italian Football Championship, 1898, into a national round-robin format alongside Serie B. It functions under a promotion and relegation system with Serie B and has historically served as the pinnacle of professional football in Italy. 1928–29 Divisione Nazionale
The 1928-29 Divisione Nazionale was the twenty-ninth edition of the Italian Football Championship. It was also the sixth season from which the Italian Football Champions adorned their team jerseys in the subsequent season with a Scudetto. This was the third of three seasons of the Italian Football Championship re-branded to Divisione Nazionale (prior to the fourth re-brand that in 1929 created Serie A and Serie B). Gino Rossetti
Gino Rossetti (; 7 November 1904 – 15 May 1992) was an Italian football manager and former footballer who played as a forward. He jointly holds the record for the all-time most goals scored in a single Italian league season at 36 goals with Torino during the 1928–29 season. He competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics with the Italy national football team, where he won a bronze medal, and was top scorer in the 1927–30 edition of the Central European International Cup, where he won a gold medal. Club career Spezia Rossetti began his career as a left-winger, and debuted at the age of fifteen in the 1919–20 championship with Virtus Spezia. The 1949-50 Serie A was the forty-eighth edition of the Italian Football Championship. It was the seventeenth Italian Football Championship branded Serie A, since Serie A was launched in 1929. This was the twenty-fourth season from which the Italian Football Champions adorned their team jerseys in the subsequent season with a Scudetto. Juventus were champions for the eighth time in their history. This was their seventh scudetto since the scudetto started being awarded in 1924 and their sixth win contested as Serie A. This ended Torino's run of five consecutive Italian Football Championship wins, after the Torino first team squad was killed in the Superga air disaster. Nils Gunnar Nordahl (; 19 October 1921 – 15 September 1995) was a Swedish professional footballer. A highly prolific, powerful, and physically strong striker, with an eye for goal, he is best known for his spell at AC Milan from 1949 to 1956, in which he won the ''scudetto'' twice, and also the title of ''pluricapocannoniere'', with an unprecedented five top scorer (''capocannonieri'') awards, more than any other player in the history of the Italian championship. Sebastiano Rossi (born 20 July 1964) is an Italian retired professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. During a 21-year professional career, he appeared in 346 Serie A games, most notably representing AC Milan (12 seasons) with which he won 12 major titles, including five national championships and the 1994 Champions League. Ghost Goal
In association football, a ghost goal (or phantom goal) is either a goal wrongly awarded despite the ball not having crossed the Goal line (football), goal line, or a goal wrongly not given despite the ball having crossed the line. In an attempt to combat ghost goals, rules allowing goal-line technology (GLT) were passed by the International Football Association Board in 2012 and have consequently been introduced for some football competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League. Adriano Galliani (born 30 July 1944) is an Italian entrepreneur and football executive who is the CEO of club Monza. He is also a senator for Forza Italia. He is known for being former vice-chairman and CEO of AC Milan from 1986 to 2017, a period in the club's history known as the "Silvio Berlusconi era". In association football, goal-line technology (sometimes referred to as a Goal Decision System) is the use of electronic aid to determine if a goal has been scored or not. In detail, it is a method used to determine when the ball has completely crossed the goal line in between the goal-posts and underneath the crossbar with the assistance of electronic devices and at the same time assisting the referee in awarding a goal or not. The objective of goal-line technology (GLT) is not to replace the role of the officials, but rather to support them in their decision-making. The GLT must provide a clear indication as to whether the ball has fully crossed the line, and this information will serve to assist the referee in making their final decision. 2014–15 Serie B
The 2014–15 Serie B was the 83rd season since its establishment in 1929. A total of 22 teams contested the league: 14 of which returning from the 2013–14 season, 5 of which promoted from Prima Divisione, and three relegated from Serie A. The original concept was that due to Siena's exclusion because of financial issues and the fact such vacancy will not be filled in preparation of a future reduction to a league composed by 20 teams, this season featured 21 participant clubs instead of the usual 22. However, on 11 August 2014, Novara won an appeal and the league confirmed a 22nd team. On 29 August, the league chose Vicenza Calcio as the 22nd participant. The series have 42 weeks of play. The 1929-30 Serie A was the thirtieth edition of the Italian Football Championship. It was also the seventh season from which the Italian Football Champions adorned their team jerseys in the subsequent season with a Scudetto. Replacing Divisione Nazionale, this was the first season of the Italian Football Championship after its landmark fourth re-brand that created Serie A. Serie A was the first Italian football nationwide round robin to decide Italy's champion club. Secondary division Serie B was created the same season, facilitating meritocratic promotion and relegation between two Italian nationwide divisions.
