2015–16 Ottawa Senators Season
The 2015–16 Ottawa Senators season was the Ottawa Senators seasons, 24th season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators, along with all other Canadian teams, failed to make the playoffs. A major trade was made during the season to bring Dion Phaneuf to the Senators and improve the team defence, but the team was not able to make a run to secure a playoff spot. Two significant faults in the team were noted by the media: the club allowed 247 goals, third-highest in the league. Secondly, the team's penalty-killing unit ranked 29th in the league. One day after the regular season, general manager (GM) Bryan Murray stepped down and assistant GM Pierre Dorion became GM. Atlantic Division (NHL)
The Atlantic Division is a name used by the National Hockey League to describe a division of teams in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The Ottawa Senators are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa. The team is a member of the Atlantic Division (NHL), Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators were granted a franchise in 1990. The team participated in the 1992 NHL expansion draft and the 1992 NHL entry draft and began play in the 1992–93 NHL season, 1992–93 season. Thomas Vanek
Thomas Vanek (born 19 January 1984) is an Austrian former professional ice hockey winger who played fourteen seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, and Vancouver Canucks. Vanek was drafted by the Sabres fifth overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, making him the highest-drafted Austrian player in NHL history along with David Reinbacher in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Matt Moulson
Matthew Keith Moulson (born November 1, 1983) is a Canadian former ice hockey left winger. Moulson played 650 games in the National Hockey League (NHL), the majority of which were spent with the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres. The New York Islanders (colloquially known as the Isles) are a professional ice hockey team based in Elmont, New York. David Legwand
David A. Legwand (born August 17, 1980) is an American former professional ice hockey forward who played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was the first player ever drafted by the Nashville Predators, with whom he spent 12 full seasons and set several franchise records. He finished the final three seasons of his career split between the Predators, Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres. Chris Driedger
Chris Driedger (born May 18, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Driedger was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the third round (76th overall) of the 2012 NHL entry draft, and has also played in the NHL for the Florida Panthers and Seattle Kraken. Playing career Junior Growing up in Manitoba, Driedger played AAA Bantam and Midget ice hockey for the Winnipeg Monarchs organization. Robin Lehner
Robin Lehner (born 24 July 1991) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey goaltender most recently under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). Nicknamed "Panda", he previously played in the NHL for the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, and Chicago Blackhawks.
