2015–16 Luge World Cup
The 2015–16 Luge World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for luge, organised by the International Luge Federation, FIL. The season started on 28 November 2015 in Olympic Sliding Centre Innsbruck, Igls, Austria and ended on 21 February 2016 in Winterberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track, Winterberg, Germany. Felix Loch
Felix Loch (; born 24 July 1989) is a German luger and Olympic champion. He has been competing since 1995 and on the German national team since 2006. He has won fourteen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships, including twelve golds (Men's singles: FIL World Luge Championships 2008, 2008, FIL World Luge Championships 2009, 2009, FIL World Luge Championships 2012, 2012, FIL World Luge Championships 2013, 2013, 2015 FIL World Luge Championships, 2015, 2016 FIL World Luge Championships, 2016; Men's sprint 2016 FIL World Luge Championships, 2016: Mixed team event: 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and two silvers (Men's singles: FIL World Luge Championships 2011, 2011, 2015 FIL World Luge Championships, 2015). Altenberg Bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton Track
The Altenberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a venue in Germany for bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton. Located in Saxony in eastern Germany, it is northwest of Altenberg, Saxony, Altenberg, near the border with the Czech Republic. Erin Hamlin
Erin Mullady Hamlin (born 19 November 1986) is a four-time Olympian and the first female American luger to medal at any Winter Olympics, as well as the first American of either gender to medal in luge singles competition and the first non-European woman to take an Olympic medal in luge. She took the singles bronze medal in Sochi's 2014 Winter Olympics, something the Associated Press called "a feat that will surely go down as perhaps the greatest moment in USA Luge history". Career At age 12 Hamlin took an interest in luge and attended the U.S. Luge Screening Camp in Syracuse, NY. By age 17 Hamlin won a gold medal at the Junior National Luge Championship held in Lake Placid, NY. Alex Gough (luger)
Alex Gough (born May 12, 1987) is a retired Canadian luger who competed between 2002 and 2018. Gough is a two-time Olympic luge medalist, winning bronze in the women's singles event and silver in the team relay at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She was the first Canadian to win a luge medal at the Olympics. Gough won a bronze medal in the women's singles event at the FIL World Luge Championships 2011 in Cesana, the first ever for a Canadian woman and only the second overall ( Miroslav Zajonc was the first with his gold in the men's singles event in 1983). Gough has won a total of six World Championship medals, two bronze in women's singles (2011 and 2013) and a silver and three bronze in the mixed team relay events. Dajana Eitberger
Dajana Eitberger (born 7 January 1991) is a German luger. She currently represents Germany in the women's doubles event in the Luge World Cup. Career During the 2014–15 Luge World Cup season she was victorious in one event which was the final race of the season in Sochi. During that season she came in second twice and third four time and finished second in the overall standing behind her teammate, Natalie Geisenberger. The event in Sochi and doubled as the European championship and as such she is the current European champion. During the 2015–16 Luge World Cup Eitberger was on the winners platform on the podium once (at the season opener in Igls), was second twice and third three times. She once again finished the season sixth in the standings. Eitberger won the silver medal at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, again behind Natalie Geisenberger. Stepan Valeryevich Fedorov (; born 8 May 1987) is a Russian luger who has competed since 1999. He finished twelfth in the men's singles event at a World Cup event in Calgary on 21 November 2009. Roman Alexandrovich Repilov (; born 5 March 1996) is a Russian luger. Competitive career Representing Russia at the 2015–16 Luge World Cup, Repilov placed second in the sprint event in Calgary with a time of 30.279. On 2 December 2016, he came in fifth in the Lake Placid event of the Men's Singles 2016-17 Luge World Cup, but set a new Lake Placid track start record of 6.359 seconds. Later in the same season, he triumphed in the men's singles event at Park City, Utah, came in second twice, in Winterberg, Germany and Sigulda, Latvia and won two men's singles sprint events in Park City and Sigulda. Tucker West
Tucker West (born June 15, 1995) is an American luger who, at the age of 18, was the youngest male ever to qualify to represent the United States in the men's luge at the Olympics. West placed 22nd in the men's single competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Career West attended National Sports Academy High in Lake Placid, New York. Before going away to school he was a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut. When West was a boy, his father designed and built a wood luge track in the backyard of their Ridgefield home. West attends Union College in Schenectady, New York. Before making the ten-member Sochi squad, West was the co-champion of the 2012 U.S luge singles title with Chris Mazdzer, a U.S junior silver medalist, and a silver medalist at the 2011 World Cup in Austria. Chris Mazdzer
Christopher Mazdzer (; born June 26, 1988) is an American retired luger. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, he won the silver medal in the men's single luge, becoming the first non-European medalist in that event. He competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, finishing 13th on both occasions. Mazdzer announced his retirement from luge on December 4, 2023 on Instagram.
