The 2015–16 Los Angeles Kings season was the 49th season (48th season of play) for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. The season began on October 7, 2015, and ended on April 23, 2016, respectively, both against the San Jose Sharks. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981–82 NHL season, 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. 2015–16 NHL Season
The 2015–16 NHL season was the 99th season of operation (98th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). Thirty teams competed in 82-game regular season schedules from October 7, 2015 to April 10, 2016. The 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs following the regular season began on April 13 and ended June 12, with the Pittsburgh Penguins defeating the San Jose Sharks in six games to win their fourth Stanley Cup. None of the seven Canadian-based teams qualified for the playoffs; this was the second season in league history that the playoff field consisted of only United States-based teams. The only other time in league history that no Canadian teams qualified for the postseason was in the 1969–70 season. Dignity Health Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Bakersfield, California. The 2015–16 Anaheim Ducks season was the 23rd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 15, 1993. The team's regular season began on October 10, 2015, against the San Jose Sharks. The Ducks battled back from 1–7–2 and 12–15–6 starts to win 46 games and the Pacific Division, but were dispatched in a home playoff Game 7 for the fourth year in a row, as Nashville bested Anaheim in a hard-fought opening-round series. The first round loss came a season after the Ducks went two rounds further in the playoffs to the Western Conference Finals. Peter Budaj ( ; born 18 September 1982) is a Slovak former professional ice hockey goaltender. He had previously played in the National Hockey League for the Colorado Avalanche, which drafted him, Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Jean-François "J-F" Bérubé (born July 13, 1991) is a Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was selected by the Kings in the fourth round (95th pick overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Michael Richards (born February 11, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Richards played 11 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons, spending time with the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, and Washington Capitals.
