2015–16 Israeli Basketball Super League
The 2015–2016 Israeli Basketball Super League was the 62nd season of the Israeli Basketball Super League. The regular season started on October 11, 2015, and ended on March 6, 2016. The last game was played on June 9, 2016. This season, the league had a different format. After the eight best teams qualified for the Playoffs, the winners of the series would play in a Final Four tournament. Hapoel Jerusalem B.C., Hapoel Jerusalem was the defending champion. Hapoel failed to reclaim its title, because Maccabi Rishon LeZion (basketball), Maccabi Rishon LeZion won in the Final. It was the first championship ever for Rishon LeZion. Teams Maccabi Kiryat Gat B.C., Maccabi Kiryat Gat has been promoted to the league after winning Liga Leumit (basketball), 2014–15 National League. 2016 Israeli Final Four
The 2016 Israeli Final Four was the concluding tournament of the 2015–16 Israeli Basketball Super League. It was the seventh Israeli Final Four, and the event is held for the first time since the 2012 edition. Unlike previous Final Four tournaments, there would not be a third placed game. The Event was held in the Pais Arena, in Jerusalem between 6 and 9 May 2016. The participating teams were Hapoel Jerusalem, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Eilat, and Maccabi Rishon LeZion. Venue The Pais Arena is an indoor sports arena in Jerusalem. Opened in 2014 as an open-air venue with a capacity of 11,000. Bnei Herzliya Basket (, lit. ''Sons of Herzliya''), is a professional basketball club that is based in Herzliya, in central Israel. The club plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, the top division of Israeli basketball. History The club was originally founded in 1985, under the name Hapoel Herzliya. In 2002, the club merged with Maccabi Ra'anana in a neighboring town, and was re-named Bnei HaSharon. Liga Leumit (, lit. ''National League'') is the second tier level league of basketball competition in Israel. It is the league level that is below the first tier Israeli Premier League. League system On 30 July, 2024 the Israel Basketball Association announces new game system. The regular season be played in a home-and-away Round-robin tournament, round-robin format. The top 6 finishers will advance to the Top-teams League Group, and the rest of the teams will advance to the Bottom-Teams League Group. Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other.
