2015–16 Bundesliga (women)
The 2015–16 Bundesliga was the 53rd season of the Bundesliga, Germany's premier association football, football competition. The season started on 14 August 2015 and ended on 14 May 2016. FC Bayern Munich, Bayern Munich were the defending champions, after winning their 24th Bundesliga title and 25th German championship overall in the previous season. The Bundesliga (; ), sometimes referred to as the Fußball-Bundesliga () or 1. Bundesliga (), is a professional association football league in Germany and the highest level of the German football league system. The Bundesliga comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the 2. Bundesliga. Seasons run from August to May. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with a focus on Saturdays. All Bundesliga football club (association football), clubs take part in the DFB-Pokal cup competition. Fußballclub Ingolstadt 04 e. V., commonly known as FC Ingolstadt 04 or FC Ingolstadt, is a German football club based in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. The club was founded in 2004 out of the merger of the football sides of two other clubs: ESV Ingolstadt-Ringsee 1919 and MTV Ingolstadt 1881. Originally founded in 1899 as a gymnastics club, Hoffenheim came into being in their modern form in 1945. Hamburger Sport-Verein e.V.
