2015–16 Ascenso MX Season
The 2015–16 Ascenso MX season is a two-part competition: Apertura 2019 began 25 July 2015 and Clausura 2020. Ascenso MX is the second-tier football league of Mexico. All Ascenso MX teams except FC Juárez and Cimarrones de Sonora, will participate in Copa MX. Changes from the previous season * Dorados de Sinaloa were promoted to Liga MX. * Club Universidad de Guadalajara were relegated from Liga MX. * Loros de la Universidad de Colima were promoted from Segunda División de México (will join in 2016–17 season). * Altamira F.C. were moved to Tapachula, Chiapas and rebranded to Cafetaleros de Tapachula * Irapuato F.C. were rebranded to Murciélagos F.C. and moved to Los Mochis, Sinaloa. * Mérida F.C. now be changing logo and will be called Venados F.C. Ascenso MX
Ascenso MX, also known as Ascenso BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons, was a professional association football league in Mexico and the second level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Primera División A de México (1994–2009) and also as Liga de Ascenso (2009–2012). The champions of the competition was promoted to Liga MX (top level), and the bottom team was relegated to Liga Premier (third level). In 2012, the league rebranded its name and competition format as Ascenso MX, the major changes (clubs do not need a FMF certification to be promoted and that the competition no longer used group stages). Ascenso MX was replaced by Liga de Expansión MX on April 17, 2020. The 2016–17 Ascenso MX season is a two-part competition: Apertura 2016 began on 15 July 2016 and Clausura 2017. Ascenso MX is the second-tier football league of Mexico. All Ascenso MX teams except UAEM, U. de C., Tampico Madero, Correcaminos, Zacatepec and Sonora, will participate in Copa MX. The fixtures were announced on 9 June 2016. Changes from the previous season * Necaxa were promoted to Liga MX. * Sinaloa were relegated from Liga MX. * U. de C. will join from Segunda División de México (due to stadium requirements failed in 2015, approved in 2016). * UAEM were promoted from Segunda División de México * Tampico Madero were promoted to Ascenso MX as an expansion team, will take the open spot vacated by Atlético San Luis. * Atlético San Luis were dissolved and may return to play next season. Los Mochis
Los Mochis () is a coastal city in northern Sinaloa, Mexico. It serves as the municipal seat of the municipality of Ahome. Irapuato is a Mexican city and municipality located at the foot of the Arandas Hill (in Spanish: ''Cerro de Arandas''), in the central region of the state of Guanajuato. Loros De La Universidad De Colima
Club de Fútbol Loros de la Universidad de Colima was Mexican football club that lastly played in the Ascenso MX, the second tier division of Mexican football. The club was based in Colima, Mexico. The team participated in the Ascenso MX during the 2016–17 season after earning promotion by winning the Torneo Clausura 2015 Championship over Cruz Azul Hidalgo and the Final de Ascenso against U.A. Estado de Mexico (winners of Apertura 2014). They were initially going to get promoted during the 2015–2016 season, but they did not meet the stadium requirements set forth by the Mexican Football Federation. In 2019, they returned to Ascenso MX after two years playing at Liga Premier, the third tier division of Mexican football. Liga MX, also known as Liga BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Mexico and the highest level of the Mexican football league system. Formerly known as Liga Mayor (1943–1949) and also as Primera División de México (1949–2012), it has 18 participating clubs, with each season divided into two short tournaments, ''Apertura'' from July to December and ''Clausura'' from January to May. Club Deportivo Dorados de Sinaloa, simply known as Dorados, is a Mexican professional football club based in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
