2015–16 Adelaide United FC Season
The 2015–16 season was the 12th in the history of Adelaide United FC, Adelaide United Football Club since its establishment in 2003. The club participated in the A-League Men, A-League for the 11th time, the Australia Cup, FFA Cup for the second time and the AFC Champions League for the fifth time. Ahead of the season, manager Josep Gombau stood down, citing family reasons. He was replaced by the club's technical director, Guillermo Amor, in his first senior managerial role. Adelaide United were knocked out of the FFA Cup in the quarter-finals by rivals Melbourne Victory FC, Melbourne Victory, their first loss in the competition's history. Two and a half weeks later, Adelaide would begin their season by hosting Victory at Adelaide Oval, a match that ended 0–0. The Reds went winless in their first eight games and sat 13 points from the top of the ladder. Adelaide United Football Club is a professional men's Association football, soccer club located in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. Darwin Olympic Sporting Club is an Australian Association football, soccer club based in Darwin, Northern Territory, Darwin, the Northern Territory. The Australian soccer champions are the winners of the highest league in Australian men's soccer, which since 2005–06 is currently the A-League Men. The National Soccer League was established in 1977. At the end of the 1977 season, Sydney City (now Hakoah Sydney City East) were the first club to be crowned champions. Scott Neville (born 11 January 1989) is a retired professional soccer player who played as a defender. Born in England, he represented Australia at youth level. Dylan John McGowan (born 6 August 1991) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Hamilton Academical. McGowan was born in Adelaide, Australia, where he played youth football for Para Hills Knights before moving to Hearts in his parents' homeland, where he made his debut after loan spells for East Fife and Gold Coast United. Nicholas John Fitzgerald (born 13 February 1992) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays for Sydney Olympic. Josep Gombau
Josep Gombau Balague (born 5 June 1976) is a Spanish professional football manager. He is a former Barcelona youth team coach and has held multiple positions at the club's youth academy. Career Born in Amposta, Tarragona, Catalonia, Gombau was a goalkeeper, but switched to coaching at the age of 16.
