2014–2015 Volvo Ocean Race
The 2014–15 Volvo Ocean Race was the 12th edition of the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race. It started on 19 October 2014 in Alicante, Spain, and concluded in June 2015 in Gothenburg, Sweden. After 38,739 nautical miles of ocean racing, Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing led by skipper Ian Walker (sailor), Ian Walker claimed the overall trophy. Yachts For the first time, the race is a one-design event. The Volvo Ocean 65 was designed by Farr Yacht Design in response to concerns about safety and cost. Volvo Ocean 65
The Volvo Ocean 65 is a class of monohull racing yachts. It is the successor to the Volvo Open 70 yacht used in past editions of the Volvo Ocean Race. It was announced at a conference in Lorient, France, during a stopover in the 2011–2012 Volvo Ocean Race, 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race. Charles Caudrelier
Charles Caudrelier (born 26 February 1974) is a French sailor who has sailed in multiple Volvo Ocean Races. Born in Paris and raised in Brittany, Caudrelier is a merchant navy officer. He won the Solitaire du Figaro, a solo race, in 2004 and also completed the race in 2005 and 2006. He won the Transat Jacques Vabre, a two-man race, in 2009 and 2013. Christopher John "Chris" Nicholson (born 18 June 1969) is an Australian sailor who has competed in multiple Summer Olympics and Volvo Ocean Races and has won six World championships. Sailing career In 1992, Chris and his brother Darren won the 505 World Championships in Santa Cruz. Charlie Enright
Charlie Enright (born 10 September 1984) is an American sailor who has competed in the Volvo Ocean Race. Born in Rhode Island, Enright attended Brown University. He sailed in the 2011 and 2019 Fastnet Race, winning the latter, and worked for North Sails. Enright and Mark Towill co-founded '' Team Alvimedica'' which sailed in the 2014–15 Volvo Ocean Race. Originally intended to be an all-American team, the team was American/Turkish flagged after sponsorship from Alvimedica. They were the youngest team in the fleet.
