2014–15 Morecambe F.C. Season
The 2014–15 season was Morecambe F.C., Morecambe's eighth consecutive season in Football League Two, League Two, the fourth English football league system, tier of Football in England, English football. They began the season on 9 August 2014, with the opening match of their League Two campaign. They also competed in three Football in England#Men's Cup competitions, cup competitions, the 2014–15 FA Cup, FA Cup, the 2014–15 Football League Cup, League Cup and the 2014–15 Football League Trophy, League Trophy. However, they only made it past the First Round in the League Trophy, losing 3–1 away to fellow League Two side Bury F.C., Bury in the Second Round on 7 October 2014. Morecambe ( ) is a seaside town and civil parish in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England, on Morecambe Bay, part of the Irish Sea. In 2011 the parish had a population of 34,768. Name The first use of the name was by John Whitaker in his ''History of Manchester'' (1771), when he refers to the "æstury of Moricambe". It next appears four years later in ''Antiquities of Furness'', where the bay is described as "the Bay of Morecambe". That name is derived from the Roman name ''Moriancabris Æsturis'' shown on maps prepared for them by ''Claudius Ptolemœus'' (Ptolemy) from his original Greek maps. At this distance in time it is impossible to say if the name was originally derived from an earlier language (e.g. Celtic language) or from Greek. The Latin version describes the fourth inlet north from Wales on the west coast of England as Moriancabris Æsturis. Peter MacDonald (footballer)
Peter Ian Ronald MacDonald (born 17 November 1980) is a Scottish professional football coach and a former player who played as a striker. MacDonald started his career with St. Johnstone, who he played with for a decade after signing for the youth academy of Rangers. He also spent 18 months with Dundee in the midst of his time at Greenock Morton, as well as one season with Clyde. Martin Callie Boyle (born 25 April 1993) is a professional association football player who plays for club Hibernian. Born in Scotland, he represents the Australia national team. Gary Harkins (born 2 January 1985) is a Scottish professional footballer and coach who plays as a midfielder. Having come through the youth academies at Celtic and Blackburn Rovers he would notably play in the Scottish Premiership for Kilmarnock, Dundee and St. Mirren. Kieron James Nathan Cadogan (born 16 August 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays for Corinthian-Casuals as a right winger or forward. Ryan Christopher Edwards (born 7 October 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender. Career Blackburn Rovers Born in Liverpool, Edwards started a two-year scholarship with Blackburn Rovers in 2010.
