The 2014–15 Florida Panthers season was the 21st season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 14, 1993. Off-season On April 29, 2014, General Manager Dale Tallon relieved Interim Head Coach Peter Horachek of his duties, and announced that the Panthers were looking to hire a new head coach with NHL experience prior to June 27, 2014, when the 2014 NHL entry draft will be held. Training camp The Panthers will play in six pre-season exhibition games before the start of the 2014–15 regular season. Memorable events On March 3, 2015, in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Roberto Luongo suffered an injury and was forced to leave the game; he was replaced by backup Al Montoya. Eastern Conference (NHL)
The Eastern Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference (NHL), Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference (or Wales Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers are a professional ice hockey team based in the Miami metropolitan area. The Panthers compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. Tyler Seguin
Tyler Paul Seguin ( ; born January 31, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and alternate captain for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Growing up in Whitby, Ontario, Seguin began playing hockey in a house league at the age of five or six. During his major junior career with the Plymouth Whalers, he became the first member of the team to win the Red Tilson Trophy as MVP of the Ontario Hockey League since 1998 and tied for that 2009–10 Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy. The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas. The Stars compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division (NHL), Central Division in the Western Conference (NHL), Western Conference. Dmitri Kulikov (ice Hockey)
Dmitry Vladimirovich Kulikov (; born 29 October 1990) is a Russian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Panthers in the first round, 14th overall, at the 2009 NHL entry draft. He has previously played for the Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, New Jersey Devils, Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Vincent Trocheck
Vincent Trocheck (born July 11, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey center for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round, 64th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Early life Trocheck was born on July 11, 1993, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up playing minor ice hockey for the Pittsburgh Hornets until he was 13 years old. Trocheck also competed with the Hornets in the 2006 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. Junior Trocheck chose to move to Detroit at the age of 13 with his father in an effort to earn attention from scouts. Rob Tallas
Robert Wayne "Robbie" Tallas (born March 20, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks between 1996 and 2001. Playing career Tallas played in 99 NHL games and compiled a record of 28 wins, 42 losses, and 10 ties. He has been serving as the goaltending coach for the Florida Panthers since August 2009. He came out of retirement for one game on March 3, 2013, as a backup goalie for the Florida Panthers. Álvaro Silva Montoya (born February 13, 1985) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who played a total of nine seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Arizona Coyotes, New York Islanders, Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, and Edmonton Oilers. He was selected in the first round, sixth overall, by the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft after a three-year collegiate career with the University of Michigan. 2014–15 Toronto Maple Leafs Season
The 2014–15 Toronto Maple Leafs season was the 98th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on November 22, 1917. This was the second year of the new alignment and schedule format. Toronto again played every team in their own division at least four times, every team in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference three times, and every team from the Western Conference twice. To complete the 82-game schedule, they played both Ottawa and Detroit five times. Notable in this season was a series of Maple Leafs jerseys being tossed onto the ice at the Air Canada Centre by some fans upset with the team's poor performance, which at times was met with arrests and ejections from the building. Peter Horachek
Peter Horachek (born January 26, 1960) is currently a pro scout for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). Horachek was previously a long-time assistant coach for the Nashville Predators, as well as the interim head coach of the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Horachek played junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals. Although he was not selected in an NHL Entry Draft, he signed a minor league contract with the Rochester Americans and had a long career in the American Hockey League (AHL) and International Hockey League (IHL).
