2014–15 FC Porto Season
The 2014–15 FC Porto season was the club's 105th competitive season and the 81st consecutive season in the top flight of Portuguese football. For the first time since the 1988–89 season, and the third during the presidency of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, Porto did not win any official competition. The pre-season began on 3 July 2014 and featured eight preparation matches: four in Portugal (including a presentation match on 27 July against Saint-Étienne) and four abroad, in the Netherlands, Belgium and England. Porto started the official season on 15 August 2014 with a 2–0 home win against Marítimo for the 2014–15 Primeira Liga. Futebol Clube do Porto is a Portuguese sports club founded in 1893 in Porto. Its association football team played its first competitive matches in 1911, when it took part and won the first edition of the José Monteiro da Costa Cup. Two years later, the club began competing in the ''Campeonato do Porto'', a regional championship organised by the Porto Football Association. In 1921–22, Porto won the inaugural Campeonato de Portugal, a nationwide competition to determine the Portuguese champions from among the winners of the different regional championships. 2014–15 UEFA Champions League Group Stage
The 2014–15 UEFA Champions League group stage was played from 16 September to 10 December 2014. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the knockout phase of the 2014–15 UEFA Champions League. Draw The draw was held on 28 August 2014, 17:45 CEST, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The 32 teams were allocated into four pots based on their UEFA club coefficients at the beginning of the season, with the title holders being placed in Pot 1 automatically. They were drawn into eight groups of four containing one team from each of the four seeding pots, with the restriction that teams from the same national association could not be drawn against each other. 2013–14 Taça De Portugal
The 2013–14 Taça de Portugal was the 74th season of the Taça de Portugal, the premier Portuguese football knockout cup competition organised by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). It was contested by 156 teams from the top four tiers of Portuguese football. The competition began with the first-round matches in September 2013 and concluded with the final at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, on 18 May 2014. The title holders were Primeira Liga side Vitória de Guimarães who entered the 2013–14 competition in the third round, together with the Primeira Liga teams, advancing as far as the next round, where they lost 2–0 to Porto. In the final, Benfica defeated Rio Ave 1–0, courtesy of a first-half goal by Nicolás Gaitán, and won the competition for a record 25th time. The 2014 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was the 36th edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. It featured the winners of the 2013–14 Primeira Liga and 2013–14 Taça de Portugal, S.L. Benfica, and the runners-up of the Taça de Portugal, Rio Ave F.C. The two clubs also met in the 2014 Taça da Liga Final, also won by Benfica.
