2014–15 Bradford City A.F.C. Season
The 2014–15 season was Bradford City's 112th season in their history, their 100th in the Football League and 102nd in the league system of English football. It was their second season back in League One after finishing 11th in the previous year. Pre-season news After finishing 11th in the 2013–14 Football League One campaign the Bantams kept the majority of the squad for this season. However captain Gary Jones, winger Garry Thompson, midfielder Nathan Doyle, defenders Matthew Bates and Nathan Curtis were all released along with youth players Jack Stockdill, Louie Swain and Jack Bentley. Bradford signed midfielder Matthew Dolan on a one-year permanent deal after spending the 2013–14 season on loan from Middlesbrough. Also defender Rory McArdle signed a new 3-year deal with the club. Phil Parkinson
Philip John Parkinson (born 1 December 1967) is an English professional football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He is the manager of club Wrexham. Parkinson acquired a Social Science degree early into his career as a manager and is the only manager to take an English fourth-tier league club to the final of a major cup competition at Wembley Stadium, leading Bradford City of League Two to the 2013 League Cup final. During his career, he has achieved promotion six times: with Colchester to the Championship in 2006, with Bradford to League One in 2013, with Bolton Wanderers to the Championship in 2017, and with Wrexham to League Two in 2023, League One in 2024 and the Championship in 2025. Rory Alexander McArdle (born 1 May 1987) is a former professional Association football, footballer. Matthew Dolan (footballer)
Matthew Alexander Dolan (born 11 February 1993) is an English footballer who plays for National League North club Spennymoor Town. Born in Hartlepool, Dolan started his career with Middlesbrough, signing his first professional contract in July 2010. He had a loan spell with Yeovil Town where he made an appearance in the 2013 Football League One play-off final win. Dolan then had a loan spell with his home town club Hartlepool United and then Bradford City. After leaving Middlesbrough in 2014, he signed permanently with Bradford where he would spend one season. After another loan spell with Hartlepool, he re-joined Yeovil Town. He departed Yeovil in 2017, signing for Newport County. Dolan spent six seasons with Newport, earning the Player of the Year award in his fourth. He also played in two unsuccessful League Two play-off finals for the club. Nathan Curtis
Nathan Robert Curtis (born 7 February 1996) is an English footballer who last played for Belper Town as a winger and striker. Career Curtis made his senior debut for Bradford City on 18 December 2012 in the FA Cup, appearing as a substitute; he replaced fellow debutant Forrayah Bass during extra time. He was not given a squad number for the 2013–14 season, and he was re-classed by the club as an "Apprentice" for the season. He was released by the club at the end of the 2013–14 season. In July 2014 he signed for Ossett Town. He moved to Spennymoor Town in 2015, before signing for Harrogate Railway Athletic in February 2016. Matthew Bates
Matthew David Bates (born 10 December 1986) is an English football coach and former professional footballer, as well as holding a UEFA B coaching licence. Born in Stockton-on-Tees, he began his youth career with Manchester United before moving to local side Middlesbrough. After winning the FA Youth Cup, Bates had a successful loan spell with Darlington. He became regularly involved in Middlesbrough's first team in 2005–06, and was a member of the Boro squad that finished as runners-up in the UEFA Cup. Bates had further loan spells with Ipswich Town and Norwich City before being named as Middlesbrough's new captain in 2010. He left the club in 2012 and joined Bristol City on a short-term deal. Nathan Luke Robert Doyle (born 12 January 1987) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender or a midfielder. Garry Kevin Langrish Thompson (born 24 November 1980) is an English football coach and former player who was last manager of Bradford (Park Avenue). Playing career Born in Kendal, Cumbria, Thompson scored Morecambe's first goal in the Conference play-off Final against Exeter City in May 2007. In January 2008, Morecambe turned down a £10,000 offer from Bradford City for Thompson. English Football League System
The English football league system, also known as the football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for men's association football clubs in England, with five teams from Wales, one from Guernsey, one from Jersey and one from the Isle of Man also competing.
