Adelaide United Football Club is a professional men's Association football, soccer club located in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. The club was one of the eight founding members of the A-League Men and have competed in it concurrently since its formation, under North American professional sports league organization#Systems around the world, licence from the Australian Professional Leagues. Established in 2003, the club was formed to replace Adelaide City and West Adelaide SC, West Adelaide in the final season of the National Soccer League, and has remained the only professional club from South Australia. Adelaide United's home ground is at Hindmarsh Stadium, Coopers Stadium in the inner north-western suburb of Hindmarsh, South Australia, Hindmarsh. 2015–16 Adelaide United FC Season
The 2015–16 season was the 12th in the history of Adelaide United FC, Adelaide United Football Club since its establishment in 2003. The club participated in the A-League Men, A-League for the 11th time, the Australia Cup, FFA Cup for the second time and the AFC Champions League for the fifth time. Ahead of the season, manager Josep Gombau stood down, citing family reasons. He was replaced by the club's technical director, Guillermo Amor, in his first senior managerial role. Adelaide United were knocked out of the FFA Cup in the quarter-finals by rivals Melbourne Victory FC, Melbourne Victory, their first loss in the competition's history. Two and a half weeks later, Adelaide would begin their season by hosting Victory at Adelaide Oval, a match that ended 0–0. Bruce José Djité (French pronunciation: ; born 25 March 1987) is an Australian executive and former association football (soccer) player. he is South Australian executive director of the Property Council of Australia. Djite made a name for himself playing in the AFC Champions League, reaching the 2008 AFC Champions League final, and was named Australia League Young Footballer of the Year for 2008. Marcelo Adrián Carrusca (; born 1 September 1983), is an Argentine-Australian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder, and is the current Head of Junior Development for Adelaide United. Born in La Plata, Carrusca started his professional career at Estudiantes de La Plata before moving to Turkish side Galatasaray in 2006. Osama "Ozzie" Malik (; born 30 September 1990) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or centre-back. Club career Malik signed for Adelaide United's youth squad at the commencement of the A-League 2008–09 season. Dylan John McGowan (born 6 August 1991) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Hamilton Academical. Michael Robert Marrone (born 27 January 1987) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays for Sturt Lions.
