The year 2014 saw a number of events in the video game industry. No new major consoles were released, but updates and upgrades were: the New Nintendo 3DS was released in Japan and Oceania, and Sony Interactive Entertainment released new model 2000 PS Vita systems in Europe & North America. In video game-related corporate acquisitions, Amazon purchased the online video game streaming service Twitch, and Facebook acquired the virtual reality company and product Oculus. Nintendo released Amiibo in 2014, companion figurines that could be scanned by the 3DS and Wii U systems. On Twitter and other Internet social media, the Gamergate controversy began. ''WWE 2K15'' is a professional wrestling video game developed by Yuke's and published by 2K (company), 2K for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It is the sequel to ''WWE 2K14'', and was succeeded by ''WWE 2K16''. It was released on October 28, 2014, in North America and on October 31, 2014, in Europe for History of video game consoles (seventh generation), last generation consoles and released on November 18, 2014, in North America and on November 21, 2014, in Europe for History of video game consoles (eighth generation), current generation consoles. It was released for Microsoft Windows on April 28, 2015, and was the first WWE game to be released on the platform since ''WWE Raw (video game), WWE Raw'', which was released in 2002.
