2014 South American Under-23 Championships In Athletics
The 6th South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Montevideo, Uruguay at Pista de Atletismo Darwin Piñeyrúa on October 3–5, 2014. Sprinters Aldemir da Silva Júnior from Brazil, new 200m championship record in 20.50s, and Déborah Rodríguez from Uruguay, new 400m championship record in 52.53s, were awarded the titles for the best performances (''mejor marca técnica'') of the event. Ángel Ayala Lardizabal (born 11 May 2000) is a Mexican professional boxer who held the IBF flyweight title from August 2024 to March 2025. Professional career Ayala made his professional debut against Christopher Celaya on 7 March 2019. He won the fight by a second-round technical knockout. Ayala amassed an 8–0 record before being booked to face Luis Castro for the vacant WBC FECARBOX flyweight title on 16 October 2020. Career He tied Aldemir da Silva Junior for the 200 metres title at the 2011 South American Junior Championships in Athletics. Sebastián Acevedo
Sebastián Acevedo Becerra (20 January 1933 – 11 November 1983) was a Chilean worker who, in protest at the arrest of his children by the secret police of the Augusto Pinochet dictatorship, self-immolated in front of the Cathedral of the Most Holy Conception, in the town of Concepción. On 9 November 1983, Galo and María Candelaria Acevedo, two of Sebastián's children, were arrested by armed civilians who did not identify themselves. He searched for them in different precincts, suspecting that they were being held by the National Information Center. Two days later, on 11 November, after he was unable to establish their whereabouts, he sprayed gasoline and kerosene on his clothes at the Plaza de Armas in Concepción as a sign of protest to pressure the authorities.
