2014 American League Championship Series
The 2014 American League Championship Series was a best-of-seven playoff in Major League Baseball's 2014 postseason pitting the second-seeded Baltimore Orioles against the fourth-seeded Kansas City Royals for the American League pennant and the right to play in the 2014 World Series. The Royals won the series four games to zero. The series was the 45th in league history with TBS airing all games in the United States. Even as the Royals swept the series, each game was decided by two runs or fewer. It was the first-ever postseason meeting between the two teams. Jon "Boog" Sciambi () (born April 11, 1970) is an American sportscaster for ESPN and the Marquee Sports Network, and has been the everyday play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Cubs TV broadcasts on Marquee since 2021. He has worked extensively as a baseball play-by-play announcer, calling games for ESPN television and on ESPN Radio. 2014 Detroit Tigers Season
The 2014 Detroit Tigers season was the team's 114th season. This was the team's first year under a mostly new coaching staff led by rookie Manager Brad Ausmus. On September 28, the last day of the regular season, the Tigers clinched the American League Central title with a 3–0 win over the Minnesota Twins. The Tigers finished one game ahead of the Kansas City Royals, with a 90–72 record. It was their fourth consecutive American League Central title. They became the first AL Central team to win four consecutive titles since the Cleveland Indians won five straight from 1995 to 1999, and the first Tigers team to ever make four consecutive postseason appearances. The 2014 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim season was the franchise's 54th season and 49th in Anaheim (all of them at Angel Stadium). The Angels achieved a historically significant milestone during the course of the season by improving their all-time winning percentage to above the .500 mark. Brian Scott Gorman (born June 11, 1959) is an American former umpire in Major League Baseball. After working in the National League from 1991 to 1999, he umpired in both leagues from 2000-2021.
