2014–15 Columbia Lions Men's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Columbia Lions men's basketball team represented Columbia University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Lions, led by fifth year head coach Kyle Smith, played their home games at Levien Gymnasium and were members of the Ivy League. They finished the season 13–15, 5–9 in Ivy League play to finish in a tie for fifth place. Previous season The Lions finished the season 21–13, 8–6 in Ivy League play to finish in a tie for third place. Kyle Smith (basketball)
Kyle Andrew Smith (born June 26, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who is the men's head coach for the Stanford Cardinal of the ACC. Prior to joining the Cardinal, Smith was the head coach at Columbia University, the University of San Francisco, and Washington State University. In his final season at Columbia, he led the team to a CIT Championship over UC Irvine. His coaching style has been dubbed “Nerdball”, which is a system that utilizes analytics to track and make decisions on many aspects about the team. Early life Smith was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised on the Fort Bliss Army base. He played basketball at Alief Hastings High School in Houston, and graduated in 1988. Luke Petrasek (born August 17, 1995) is an American-born Polish professional basketball player for Anwil Włocławek of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for Columbia. Early life Petrasek's grandfather Connie Simmons played for the New York Knicks from 1949 to 1954. Petrasek attended Northport High School, which he led to the 2013 Long Island Class AA Championship.
