2013–14 Texas Tech Red Raiders Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represented Texas Tech University in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by head coach Tubby Smith, who brought in a whole new coaching staff for his first season. The Red Raiders played their home games at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas, Lubbock, Texas and were members of the Big 12 Conference. Tubby Smith
Orlando Henry "Tubby" Smith (born June 30, 1951) is an American college basketball coach who last coached the men's basketball team at High Point University, his alma mater. Smith previously served in the same role at the University of Tulsa, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, the University of Minnesota, Texas Tech University, and the University of Memphis. With Kentucky, he coached the Wildcats to the 1998 NCAA championship. In his 31 years as a head coach, Smith achieved 26 winning seasons. In 2005, he joined Roy Williams, Nolan Richardson, Denny Crum, and Jim Boeheim as the only head coaches to win 365 games in 15 seasons or fewer. Coleman Coliseum is a 15,383-seat multi-purpose arena in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on the campus of the University of Alabama. It is the current home of the Alabama Crimson Tide men's and women's basketball and women's gymnastics teams, and previously served as the home of the women's volleyball program. The 2013–14 UTSA Roadrunners men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at San Antonio during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Roadrunners, led by eighth year head coach Brooks Thompson, played their home games at the Convocation Center and were first year members of Conference USA. 2013–14 Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Houston Cougars men's basketball team represented the University of Houston during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The season marked the first for the Cougars as members of the American Athletic Conference. The team, coached by James Dickey in his fourth year, played their home games at Hofheinz Pavilion. They finished the season 17–16, 8–10 in conference play to finish in sixth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the American Conference tournament where they lost to Louisville. After the season, Dickey stepped down for personal reasons. He was 64–62 in four seasons, and was replaced by Kelvin Sampson. The Legends Classic is an annual, early-season, college basketball tournament which started in 2007 and takes place at the beginning of the college basketball season in November. Four teams (from four conferences) compete in the Legends Classic. The tournament has been held at various venues in the New York metropolitan area, primarily the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
