Tahiti Ligue 1
The Tahitian Ligue 1 is the top division of the Fédération Tahitienne de Football in French Polynesia. The league is currently named Ligue 1 Vini for sponsorship reasons. Competition format Competition is divided into a regular season and play-offs. The regular season is a league format. At the end of the regular season the top 6 teams – and in past seasons the winners of the Moorea island league – enter a play-off league to determine the overall champions and qualifiers for the OFC Champions League. Meanwhile, the lower teams enter a separate play-off league along with teams from Ligue 2 to determine promotion and relegation for the following season. The league has a point scoring system whereby teams are awarded 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a defeat. Steevy Chong Hue
Steevy Chong Hue (; born 26 January 1990) is a Tahitian footballer who plays as a striker. He last played for A.S. Tefana in the Tahitian First Division. Background Chong Hue is of Hakka Chinese ancestry from Longgang, Shenzhen, China. The area was formerly known as Bao'an in Shenzhen. Club career Chong Hue began his career playing for AS Samine as a teenager before joining A.S. Dragon in the Tahiti First Division in 2010. In 2011, Belgian Third Division side Bleid-Gaume signed Chong Hue and compatriot Alvin Tehau, however they did not make any appearances for the club due to its economic difficulties at the time and decided to return to Tahiti. After his performance in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, he earned much praise and became linked to several professional clubs. Tahiti (; Tahitian , ; ) is the largest island of the Windward group of the Society Islands in French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France. Alvin Tehau (born April 10, 1989) is a Tahitian professional association footballer who plays for A.S. Pirae as a central midfielder. He is the twin brother of Lorenzo Tehau, brother of Jonathan Tehau and cousin of Teaonui Tehau, all playing for Tahiti national football team. Naea Tommy Irving Bennett (born 8 July 1977) is a French Polynesian former footballer, politician, and former Cabinet Minister. He last played as a striker for AS Pirae and also represented the Tahiti national beach soccer team. He is son of Erroll Bennett, a former Tahitian footballer who was runner-up at 1973 and 1980 OFC Nations Cup.
