2013–14 Luge World Cup
The 2013–14 Luge World Cup was a multi race tournament over a season for luge organised by the FIL. The season started on 16 November 2013 in Lillehammer, Norway and ended on 26 January 2014 in Sigulda, Latvia. After the World Cup, the athletes moved for two weeks to Sochi for the Luge event in the XXII Olympic Winter Games. The defending individual World Champions were Felix Loch and Natalie Geisenberger, both from Germany. Athletes from Germany dominated the 2012–13 World Cup season, as they were also the defending World Champions in Men's Double (Tobias Wendl/ Tobias Arlt) and Team relay. Felix Loch
Felix Loch (; born 24 July 1989) is a German luger and Olympic champion. He has been competing since 1995 and on the German national team since 2006. He has won fourteen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships, including twelve golds (Men's singles: FIL World Luge Championships 2008, 2008, FIL World Luge Championships 2009, 2009, FIL World Luge Championships 2012, 2012, FIL World Luge Championships 2013, 2013, 2015 FIL World Luge Championships, 2015, 2016 FIL World Luge Championships, 2016; Men's sprint 2016 FIL World Luge Championships, 2016: Mixed team event: 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and two silvers (Men's singles: FIL World Luge Championships 2011, 2011, 2015 FIL World Luge Championships, 2015). Winterberg Bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton Track
The Winterberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton track located in Winterberg, Germany. It is the only track of its kind in the world with a turn that has sponsor (commercial), corporate sponsorship with turn seven being sponsored by Veltins, a Germany, German brewery which has its headquarters located in neighboring Meschede. History Completed in 1977, the track underwent a redesign of its start house area where the women's luge start house was moved from before turn four to near the men's luge start house prior to turn one in 2006. Gregory Carigeiet (born 8 March 1987) is a Switzerland, Swiss luger who has competed since 1999. Carigeit finished 17th in the men's singles event at a World Cup event in Calgary on 21 November 2009. Wolfgang Kindl
Wolfgang Kindl (born 18 April 1988) is an Austrian world champion luger who has competed since 2007. Competitive career At the FIL European Luge Championships 2010 in Sigulda, he won silver medals in the men's singles and mixed team events. At the 5 December 2014 men's singles event in Lake Placid, New York, Kindl placed second, behind American Tucker West, with Dominik Fischnaller of Italy coming in third. Kindl finished the 2014-15 Luge World Cup third overall in the men's singles discipline. During the following 2015-16 Luge World Cup season, Kinda finished 2nd in the men's singles category. behind Felix Loch of Germany. Chris Mazdzer
Christopher Mazdzer (; born June 26, 1988) is an American retired luger. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, he won the silver medal in the men's single luge, becoming the first non-European medalist in that event. He competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, finishing 13th on both occasions. Mazdzer announced his retirement from luge on December 4, 2023 on Instagram. Whistler Sliding Centre
The Whistler Sliding Centre () is a Canadian bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton track located in Whistler, British Columbia, that is north of Vancouver. The centre is part of the Whistler Blackcomb resort, which comprises two ski mountains separated by Fitzsimmons Creek. Located on the lowermost slope of the northern mountain (Blackcomb Mountain), Whistler Sliding Centre hosted the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton competitions for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Design work started in late 2004 with construction taking place from June 2005 to December 2007. Armin Zöggeler OMRI (born 4 January 1974) is a retired Italian luger and double Olympic champion. He is one of the most successful men in the sport, nicknamed ''Il Cannibale'' ("The Cannibal"), for his notable series of victories, or ''The Iceblood Champion'', for his always cold, rational approach to the races. Fellow luger Tucker West described Zöggeler as the sport's equivalent of Michael Jordan. At the Winter Olympic Games, Zöggeler has won six medals in six consecutive Olympics – and this is a record in sport. He also has sixteen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships.
