2013–14 Biathlon World Cup – Pursuit Men
The 2013–14 Biathlon World Cup – Pursuit Men will start at December 9, 2013 in Hochfilzen and will finish March 22, 2014 in Holmenkollen. Defending titlist is Martin Fourcade of France. Competition format This is a pursuit competition. The biathletes' starts are separated by their time differences from a previous race, most commonly a sprint race.To be precise; the pursuit competition start intervals are determined by common rounding to the nearest whole second of the biathletes' time differences from the previous race – the amount of time each biathlete lagged after the winner to the finish line. The contestants ski a distance of over five laps. On four of the laps, the contestants shoot at targets; each miss requires the contestant to ski a penalty loop of . 2013–14 Biathlon World Cup
The 2013–14 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. The season started on 24 November 2013 in Östersund, Sweden, and ended on 23 March 2014 in Holmenkollen, Norway. Kaisa Mäkäräinen was the winner at the conclusion of the season with Tora Berger 2nd. However, the results of Olga Zaitseva were later annulled due do doping offences. The recalculation would have given overall world cup win to Berger, but the IBU made the decision based on the principle that clean athletes cannot be punished for the doping offenses of others. So, two first places were awarded in the women's overall. Anton Vladimirovich Shipulin (; born 21 August 1987) is a retired Russian biathlete and politician serving as the member of the State Duma since 2019. Biography He was born in the family of Vladimir Shipulin and Alla Shipulina, masters of sports in cross-country skiing and biathlon. He started training at an early age, at first he took up ski racing under the guidance of his father, but once he saw a rifle from his older sister, Anastasiya Kuzmina, who was doing biathlon, he got the idea to try his hand at biathlon. Simon Eder
Simon Eder (born 23 February 1983) is an Austrian biathlete. Career His first World Cup win was in the Khanty-Mansiysk mass-start race on 29 March 2009. Eder represented Austria at the 2010 Winter Olympics and in 2014 Winter Olympics. He won 2 medals: silver in the Men's relay in 2010, and a bronze in Men's relay in 2014. Both of the relays together with Daniel Mesotitsch, Dominik Landertinger and Christoph Sumann. Björn Ferry
Björn Ferry (born 1 August 1978 in Stensele, Storuman, Västerbotten) is a former Swedish biathlete and medal winning Olympian. He began competing internationally in World Cup competitions in 2001, but did not win his first international race until the 2007–2008 season. In 2007, he won gold in the mixed relay event at the Biathlon World Championships. In 2010, at his third Winter Olympics appearance, he won the gold medal in the pursuit event. He started the event in 8th place as determined by the previous sprint event, but managed to overtake the race leader on the final lap. Career Ferry debuted in the World Cup in Hochfilzen in 2001, and earned his first World Cup points after only skiing three races. He finished his first season ranked 36th in World Cup standings. Simon Schempp (born 14 November 1988) is a German former biathlete. Career In 2009, he made his World Cup debut. He became world champion by winning gold in the 15 km mass start race at the Biathlon World Championships 2017 in Hochfilzen. Jakov Fak (born 1 August 1987) is a Slovenian Biathlon, biathlete of Croats, Croat origin competing for Slovenia since 2010. As a member of the Croatian biathlon team, Fak won bronze medals at the Biathlon World Championships 2009, 2009 World Championships and at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he was also the Croatian flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In 2010, Fak switched his citizenship and started competing for Slovenia.
