2012–13 United States Network Television Schedule (daytime)
The 2012–13 daytime network television schedule for four of the five major English-language commercial broadcast networks in the United States covers the weekday daytime hours from September 2012 to August 2013. The schedule is followed by a list per network of returning series, and any series canceled after the 2011–12 season. Affiliates fill time periods not occupied by network programs with local or syndicated programming. PBS – which offers daytime programming through a children's program block, PBS Kids – is not included, as its member television stations have local flexibility over most of their schedules and broadcast times for network shows may vary. Also not included are stations affiliated with Fox (as the network does not air a daytime network schedule or network news), MyNetworkTV (as the programming service also does not offer daytime programs of any kind), and Ion Television (as its schedule is composed mainly of syndicated reruns). In the United States, for most of the history of broadcasting, there were only three or four major commercial national Terrestrial television, terrestrial television network, networks. From 1946 to 1956, these were American Broadcasting Company, ABC, CBS, NBC and DuMont Television Network, DuMont. ''Today'' (also called ''The Today Show'') is an American breakfast television, morning television show that airs weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on NBC. The program debuted on January 14, 1952. It was the first of its genre on television in the United States, American television and in the world, and after years of broadcasting it is fifth on the list of longest-running American television series. Originally a two-hour program airing weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., it expanded to Sundays in 1987 and Saturdays in 1992.
