The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The 2012–13 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 86th season of play and their 87th season overall. The regular season was reduced from its usual 82 games to 48 due to a lockout. The lockout ended on January 5 when the NHL and NHL Players' Association (NHLPA) reached an agreement. The Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, but were defeated by the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals. Nick Foligno
Nicholas Foligno (; born October 31, 1987) is an American professional ice hockey left winger and captain for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the first round, 28th overall by the Ottawa Senators during the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Foligno was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets six years later, and eventually was named the team's captain for six seasons. His father, Mike Foligno, is a veteran of over 1000 career NHL games. His brother, Marcus Foligno, currently plays for the Minnesota Wild. Marc Philippe Methot (born June 21, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. During his career, he played for the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, Ottawa Senators, and Dallas Stars. Playing career Amateur Methot played major junior ice hockey for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) beginning in the 2002–03 season. Following his first season in the OHL, he was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2003 NHL entry draft, 168th overall in the sixth round. Steve Mason (ice Hockey)
Steve Mason (born May 29, 1988) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. During his National Hockey League (NHL) career, he played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and Winnipeg Jets. He was selected in the third round, 69th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Blue Jackets. Playing major junior in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Mason spent three seasons with the London Knights and Kitchener Rangers. In the 2006–07 season, he was named OHL Goaltender of the Year.
