2012–13 Biathlon World Cup – Pursuit Men
The 2012–13 Biathlon World Cup – Pursuit Men will start on Sunday December 2, 2012 in Östersund and will finish Sunday March 17, 2013 in Khanty-Mansiysk. Defending title is Martin Fourcade of France. Competition format This is a pursuit competition. The biathletes' starts are separated by their time differences from a previous race, most commonly a sprint race.To be precise; the pursuit competition start intervals are determined by common rounding to the nearest whole second of the biathletes' time differences from the previous race – the amount of time each biathlete lagged after the winner to the finish line. The contestants ski a distance of over five laps. On four of the laps, the contestants shoot at targets; each miss requires the contestant to ski a penalty loop of . Ondřej Moravec
Ondřej Moravec (; born 9 June 1984) is a former Czech biathlete. Life and career Moravec represented the Czech Republic at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, he won silver medals in both the pursuit and the mixed relay (together with Jaroslav Soukup, Veronika Vítková and Gabriela Soukalová) and a bronze medal in the mass start. His best World Cup overall finish yet was 6th in the 2014–15 season. Since 2024, he is the coach of the Czech men's biathlon national team. Evgeny Ustyugov
Evgeny Romanovich Ustyugov (; born 4 June 1985) is a Russian former biathlon, biathlete. Born to Cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiers, Ustyugov was introduced to biathlon at the age of three. He started his career in junior tournaments in 2005, before going professional three years later in the Biathlon European Championships, European Championships. He was Biathlon at the Winter Olympics, Olympic champion in the Biathlon at the 2010 Winter Olympics – Men's mass start, men's 15 km mass start event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada until the win was revoked for doping violations. Dominik Landertinger
Dominik Landertinger (; born 13 March 1988) is a retired Austrian biathlete. Life and career Landertinger debuted in the 2007–08 season, and his big breakthrough came during the 2008–09 season, where he, as of 22 March 2015, has fourteen podium finishes, including a gold medal in the 15 km mass start at the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang and a win in the 15 km mass start in Khanty-Mansiysk at the last round of the 2009–10 season. He also finished second in the men's relay in the same World Championships, alongside Daniel Mesotitsch, Simon Eder and Christoph Sumann. He represented Austria at the 2010 Winter Olympics, 2014 Winter Olympics, and 2018 Winter Olympics. Fredrik Lindström (biathlete)
Fredrik Lindström (born 24 July 1989) is a Swedish former biathlete from Bredbyn. He made his World Cup debut on 12 December 2008 in Hochfilzen, where he ended up in 47th place. He represented Sweden at three Winter Olympics; 2010, 2014 and 2018. His best result is a victory in the men's relay in 2018. Lindström also won 2 medals individually in the World Championships: bronze in mass start in 2012 and bronze in the individual in 2013. Simon Fourcade (born 25 April 1984) is a French former biathlete and non-commissioned officer. He won a gold medal in the individual at the 2003 Biathlon Junior World Championships. Although he never took a solo World Cup race win, he took eight World Cup wins as a member of relay teams - six in men's relays and two in mixed relays. He retired from competition in March 2019. Christoph Sumann
Christoph "Sumi" Sumann (19 January 1976) is a former Austrian biathlete. Life and career As was the case with many of his fellow biathletes, Sumann switched over from cross-country skiing, which he had been doing since childhood. By the mid-1990s had he entered junior ski team of Austria and later on progressed to senior level. He was a skillful sprinter at the time. Sumann began as a biathlete in 2000 and would compete in biathlon at the top level for 11 seasons. His first World Cup win came in 2002–03 season and he finished 15th in the World Cup total. In 2006–07 Biathlon World Cup Sumann won the a mass start race and wore the red bib of the leader of the mass start cup up until the last stage of the season, the fact is quite outstanding for Austrians in biathlon despite the fact that he eventually lost it to Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who thus won the mass start world cup that season. Alexander Loginov (biathlon)
Alexandr Viktorovich Loginov (; born 31 January 1992) is a Russian biathlete. He began his career in 2004. Career Loginov started his professional career in the late 2012–13 season, taking a bronze medal in pursuit in Holmenkollen and gold as part of the relay team in Sochi. Doping case and suspension Loginov was provisionally suspended by International Biathlon Union (IBU) on 25 November 2014 after re-testing of a sample of his from 26 November 2013 showed he had been doping with EPO. All his results from 26 November 2013 onwards were annulled, and he was handed a two-year ban from sports. The ban ended on 25 November 2016. Return Loginov returned to the sport in the 2016–17 season, winning bronze with the Russian relay team at the Biathlon World Championships 2017. Tarjei Bø (born 29 July 1988) is a former Norwegian professional biathlete. Awarded Olympic gold medals, World Championship gold medals and World Cup victories from 2010 to 2025. Bø debuted in the Biathlon World Cup on 26 March 2009 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. In the 2010 Winter Olympics, he earned his first gold medal in the 4 × 7.5 km biathlon relay. On 10 December 2010 he won the World Cup sprint race in Hochfilzen, his first world cup victory. He also won the following pursuit race and anchored the winning relay team. Bø is the older brother of biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø. Tarjei won the 2010 to 2011 biathlon crystal globe for having the most points overall in the season. Biathlon World Championships 2013
The 46th Biathlon World Championships was held in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic, from 7 to 17 February 2013. There were a total of 11 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start and relay races for both men, women and a mixed relay.
