2012 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2012 Speedway Grand Prix season was the 67th edition of the official World Championship and the 18th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, deciding the FIM Speedway World Championship. It was the twelfth series under the promotion of Benfield Sports International, an IMG company. The series began on 31 March in Auckland and finish on 6 October in Toruń. The Australian rider Chris Holder became World Champion, making him the youngest gold medalist since the start of the Speedway Grand Prix series in 1995. Nicki Pedersen returned to the World Championship podium finishing second, while the American veteran Greg Hancock won the bronze medal. Chris Holder
Christopher Robert Holder (born 24 September 1987 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian speedway rider, who was the 2012 World Speedway Champion. He is also five times Australian champion (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014. Career Holder won the Australian Under-21 Championship in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, in addition to finishing runner-up in the Under-21 World Championship in 2007 and 2008. He started racing in the United Kingdom with the Isle of Wight Islanders in 2006. Anders Peter Mikael Ljung (born 30 October 1982) is a Swedish motorcycle speedway rider. He is a former Speedway Grand Prix participant. He was part of the winning Swedish team in the 2003 Speedway World Team Cup. He earned 6 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Markéta Stadium
The Markéta Stadium () is a 10,000-capacity multi-use stadium on U Vojtěšky in Břevnov, Prague, Czech Republic. The stadium hosts motorcycle speedway and has been the home of the Speedway Grand Prix of Czech Republic since 1997. The speedway track has a circumference of 353 metres (386 yards). The stadium opened during the 1930s as an athletics ground and is home to the athletics club PSK Olymp Praha (athletics), PSK Olymp Praha and the Prague speedway team AK Markéta Praha. Alfred Smoczyk Stadium () is a stadium in Leszno, Poland. It is currently used for speedway matches and is the home stadium of Unia Leszno. The stadium has a capacity of 16,700 people. The stadium is located on ''ulica Strzelecka 7''. History Alfred Smoczyk (1928–1950) was the first Polish speedway superstar. He successfully competed on Dutch tracks in the late 1940s, but died in a road accident in October 1950. He was the first Individual Polish Champion after World War II (in 1949). Western Springs Stadium is a stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. Built within a natural amphitheatre, it is primarily used for rugby union matches during the winter and for speedway racing during the summer. Krzysztof Buczkowski (born 30 April 1986 in Grudziądz, Poland) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned one international cap for the Poland speedway team. Career Buczkowski has ridden for the Polish national junior team. He started speedway in 2002 with GKM Grudziądz and rode for them until the end of 2004. In 2005, he joined Polonia Bydgoszcz until the end of 2009, when he returned to Grudziądz. After a third stint with the club from 2013 to 2020, he joined KM Cross Lublin and then Falubaz Zielona Góra. Sebastian Ułamek (born 20 November 1975) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He was a European individual Champion and earned 9 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Ułamek rode in the Polish leagues for his home club Włókniarz Częstochowa from 1992 until 1998 and then Wybrzeże Gdańsk, Gdańsk from 1999 to 2000 (the 2000 season was in the Ekstraliga (speedway), Ekstraliga). Leon Madsen
Leon Daniel Madsen (born 5 September 1988) is a Danish speedway rider who is twice a World Championship silver medalist. Career Born in Vejle, Madsen won the 80cc junior World Championship in 2001. In 2018, Madsen won the Individual Speedway European Championship for the first time. The following year in 2019, he won the silver medal in the Speedway World Championship, finishing runner-up in the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix behind Bartosz Zmarzlik. Krzysztof Kasprzak (; born 18 July 1984 in Leszno, Poland) is a Polish international motorcycle speedway rider, who became World Under-21 Champion in 2005 and won the silver medal during the 2014 Speedway Grand Prix. He also won five World team titles and He earned 13 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Martin Vaculík
Martin Vaculík (born 5 April 1990) is a Slovak motorcycle speedway rider. Career On the 6 May 2008, Vaculík gained a Polish speedway licence (''Licencja "Ż"'') at Toruń. and from 4 June 2008 he has taken part in the Polish Championships as a Polish domestic rider. In 2012, Vaculik won his first ever Grand Prix as part of the 2012 World Championship, he won the 2012 Speedway Grand Prix of Poland in Gorzów.
