2012 Monviso-Venezia — Il Padania
The 2012 Monviso-Venezia — Il Padania was the second edition of the race, held in 2011 as Giro di Padania. The race started on 3 September in Sant'Agostino and ended on 7 September in Frabosa Soprana, passing through the area struck by an earthquake in May 2012. 19 teams and 152 riders participated to the race. The 2011 winner Ivan Basso did not take part in the race, with 2010 Vuelta a España winner Vincenzo Nibali leading team Liquigas–Cannondale instead. Other notable riders who participated were the winner of the 2011 Giro d'Italia Michele Scarponi, the sprinter Alessandro Petacchi, the 2012 Italian Road Race Champion Franco Pellizotti and the 2004 Liège–Bastogne–Liège winner Davide Rebellin. Italian National Road Race Championships
The Italian National Road Race Championships is a road bicycle racing, road cycling event held annually, which decides the Italy, Italian cycling champion in the road racing discipline, across several categories of riders. The event was officially first held in 1906 (won by Giovanni Cuniolo), having been held unofficially since 1885. At the beginning there were often back-to-back wins from many riders. Costante Girardengo won the event nine times between 1913 and 1925, either side of World War I, including seven consecutive wins between 1919 and 1925. After his winning streak ended, another Italian cycling legend, Alfredo Binda, won 4 races in a row. Learco Guerra succeeded him with 5 consecutive wins. Since then the event has not been dominated to the same extent, although Fausto Coppi claimed 4 victories. Poggio Renatico ( Poggese: ; Ferrarese: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Ferrara in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about northeast of Bologna and about southwest of Ferrara. Team Time Trial
A team time trial (TTT) is a road bicycle race in which teams of cyclists race against the clock (see individual time trial for a more detailed description of ITT events). The winning team in a TTT is determined by the comparing the times of (usually) the fourth-finishing rider in each team (though the relevant finish position can be otherwise specified in advance by the race organisers). This means that each team will try to get their first four (at least) riders across the finish line in a tight group: it is actually a disadvantage for any rider to finish far in advance of the fourth rider, as by staying back a faster rider can help the fourth rider to get a quicker time.
