2012 European Curling Championships – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament of the 2012 European Curling Championships was held at the Löfbergs Lila Arena and the Karlstad Curling Club in Karlstad, Sweden from December 7 to 15. The winners of the Group C tournament in Erzurum, Turkey moved on to the Group B tournament. The top eight men's teams at the 2012 European Curling Championships, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Switzerland, Scotland, and Finland, represented their respective nations at the 2013 World Men's Curling Championship in Victoria, British Columbia. In the Group A competitions, Sweden remained relatively dominant, finishing with only one loss and qualifying for the playoffs, and the Czech Republic, Norway, and Denmark followed. In the page playoffs, Sweden blew past the Czech Republic, and Norway edged past Denmark. Jindřich Kitzberger
Jindřich Kitzberger (born 13 April 1981) is a Czech curler. He currently throws lead stones for the Jiří Snítil rink. As a junior curler, Kitzberger played in two World Junior Curling Championships. He played in the 1999 World Junior Curling Championships where he threw second stones for Vit Nekovarik. The team finished in 9th place. The team returned the following year, and at the 2000 World Junior Curling Championships they had a worse showing, finishing last, in 10th place. This finish relegated the Czech Republic to the World Juniors B Pool, and Kitzberger would not return to the main event. Martin Snítil (born 20 November 1978) is a Czech curler. He currently plays second on a team skipped by his brother, Jiří. Snítil made his international curling debut at the 2003 European Curling Championships, having coached the Czech men's team the previous season. Martin played second on the Czech team, skipped by his brother Jiří, and they finished 15th. The team returned to the European Championships in 2006, this time with Martin playing third on the team. At the 2006 European Curling Championships, they finished 11th. Rasmus Stjerne Hansen (born 26 May 1988 in Hvidovre) is a Danish curler. He is a former world junior champion and world men's silver medalist. He curls out of the Hvidovre Curling Club. Career Stjerne participated in six World Junior Championships. He played as third for Kenneth Jørgensen in 2004 and 2005, finishing outside of the playoffs in both years. He then skipped his own team at the World Juniors in 2006, 2007, and 2008, finishing fifth, fourth, and seventh, respectively. Jiří Snítil (born 24 February 1975) is a curler from the Czech Republic. He currently skips the Czech Republic national team. He started curling at the age of 21. World Curling, formerly the World Curling Federation (WCF) is the world governing body for curling accreditation, with offices in Perth, Scotland.
