2011–12 United States Network Television Schedule (daytime)
The 2011–12 daytime network television schedule for four of the five major English-language commercial List of United States over-the-air television networks, broadcast networks in the United States covers the weekday daytime television, daytime hours from September 2011 to August 2012. The schedule is followed by a #By network, list per network of returning series, and any series canceled after the 2010–11 United States network television schedule (daytime), 2010–11 season. Affiliates fill time periods not occupied by network programs with local or syndicated programming. PBS – which offers daytime programming through a children's program block, PBS Kids – is not included, as its member television stations have local flexibility over most of their schedules and broadcast times for network shows may vary. In the United States, for most of the history of broadcasting, there were only three or four major commercial national Terrestrial television, terrestrial television network, networks. From 1946 to 1956, these were American Broadcasting Company, ABC, CBS, NBC and DuMont Television Network, DuMont. From 1956 to 1986, the "Big Three television networks, Big Three" national commercial networks were ABC, CBS, and NBC (with a few limited attempts to challenge them, such as National Telefilm Associates's NTA Film Network, the Overmyer Network, & even DuMont shareholder Paramount Pictures's Paramount Television Network).
