2011–12 Syrian Premier League
The 2011–12 Syrian Premier League season is the 41st since its establishment. The 2010–11 Syrian Premier League, 2010–11 league campaign was suspended due to the Syrian civil war. This seasons league will feature two stages. Stage one will pit two groups of eight teams and kicked off on 9 October. The top four off each group would advance to the Championship pool to determine the overall league champions. The bottom four placed sides would enter the relegation pool to determine who would be relegated. Teams Two teams were promoted from the 2nd tier league; Hurriya SC based in Aleppo and Baniyas Refinery SC representing the city of Baniyas. No club was relegated from the previous season due to the 2011 Syrian uprising which forced the league to be suspended. Syrian Premier League
The Syrian Premier League () is a professional association football league in Syria and the top division of the Syrian football league system. The league comprises 12 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Syrian League 1st Division. The Syrian Premier League was founded in 1966, unifying the local leagues that had existed previously. Seasons mostly run from August to May. The first team to win the title was Al-Ittihad Ahli in 1967, whilst Al-Jaish has the record with 17 league titles. Their closest rivals, Al-Karamah, have won the league 8 times. In the beginning, the main tournament was the first division, then the Syrian Football Association developed the competition in a historic step that allowed the participation of foreign players to turn the competition into a professional league. Taliya Sports Club () is a Syrian professional association football, football club based in Hama. History The Taliya Sports Club was founded in 1941 in the Syrian city of Hama under the name of Al-Waqah Club. In 1971 the clubs (Al-Waqqa - Al-Ahly - Umayya) were merged into one with the name Al-Taliya Club. Khalid Ibn Al-Walid Stadium
Khalid ibn al-Walid Stadium () is a multi-use stadium located in thecity of Homs. It is the third-largest football stadium in Syria and is mostly used for football matches. It serves as the home ground of Al-Karamah SC and Al-Wathba SC and holds around 32,000 spectators. History The greater part of the necropolis of Tell Abu Sabun was made to disappear by 1952 in order to build the stadium. Through the efforts of Homs city council, the ground was opened in 1960 as a simple football field to be known as Homs Municipal Stadium. The stadium was also named Jura Abou-Saboun Stadium. Al-Hasakah
Al-Hasakah (; / ; ) is a city in northeastern Syria and the capital of the Al-Hasakah Governorate. Abbasiyyin Stadium
The Abbasiyyin Stadium () is a multi-use all-seater stadium in Damascus, Syria, that is currently out of use. It mostly hosted football matches and served as the home venue of the Syrian national team in the past. The stadium which was built in 1976 was lastly able to hold up to 30,000 spectators, being the 4th largest stadium in Syria.
