2011–12 Luxembourg National Division
The 2011–12 Luxembourg National Division was the 98th season of top-tier football in Luxembourg. It began on 5 August 2011 and ended on 13 May 2012. F91 Dudelange were the defending champions having won their ninth league championship in the previous season. Team changes from 2010–11 Etzella Ettelbruck and Jeunesse Canach were relegated to the Division of Honour after finishing 13th and 14th in the previous season. Jeunesse Canach were relegated after one year in the top flight while Etzella leave after an eight-year stay in the league. They were replaced by 2010–11 Division of Honour champions Union 05 Kayl-Tétange and runners-up Rumelange. Kayl-Tétange are taking part in this competition for the first time in their history, while Rumelange return to the league after a one-year absence. Luxembourg National Division
The National Division (, , ), known as the BGL Ligue for sponsorship reasons, is the highest association football, football league in Luxembourg. Until 2011, it was known as the BGL Ligue, after the Luxembourg Football Federation managed to seal a sponsorship deal with Fortis (finance), Fortis. Before 2006, it contained twelve teams, but it expanded to fourteen for the 2006–07 Luxembourg National Division, 2006–07 season. Following the abandonment of the previous season, the 2020–21 Luxembourg National Division, 2020–21 season saw the further expansion of the league to 16 teams. The current champions are Differdange 03. The competition was first held in 1909–10 Luxembourg National Division, 1909–10, and has been held every year since, with the exceptions of 1912–13 and four seasons during the Second World War. FC Jeunesse Canach (English:''FC Youth Canach'') is a Association football, football club in Canach, Luxembourg, Canach, Luxembourg. It was founded in 1930. They play in the Luxembourg National Division, National Division, after being promoted from the Luxembourg Division of Honour, Division of Honour in 2009–10. History Founded in 1930 as ''FC Fortuna Canach'', the club was dissolved at the beginning of the Second World War. The club was reformed in 1946 and then dissolved again in 1953. Stade De La Frontière
The Stade de la Frontière is a multi-purpose stadium in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home stadium of Jeunesse Esch. The stadium holds 8,200 people. History Stade de la Frontière was constructed in 1920 as one of the first purpose built football stadiums in Luxembourg. In 1937, the stadium was expanded to satisfy the demands of a more professional football system. The stadium continued to be used by Jeunesse Esch during the Nazi occupation of Luxembourg, where they were forced to play in the German regional leagues. In 1970, the Canton of Esch-sur-Alzette, as the owners, paid to renovate the stadium. This included rotating the pitch 90 degrees. This was done utilising extra land provided by the Aciéries Réunies de Burbach-Eich-Dudelange (ARBED) steel company. Stade (; ), officially the Hanseatic City of Stade (, ) is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. First mentioned in records in 934, it is the seat of the Stade (district), district () which bears its name.
