The 2012 edition of the Lebanese FA Cup is the 40th edition to be played. It is the premier knockout tournament for football teams in Lebanon. The winners qualify for the 2013 AFC Cup. Al-Ansar Club
Al Ansar Football Club () is a football club based in Tariq El Jdideh, a district in Beirut, Lebanon, that competes in the . Formed in 1951, the club did not win its first Lebanese Premier League until 1988. They went on to set a world record by winning the league 11 seasons in a row. Ansar is the most successful club in the country, having won the Lebanese Premier League 14 times and the Lebanese FA Cup 15 times, both domestic records. They have also won the Lebanese Federation Cup twice, the Lebanese Elite Cup twice and the Lebanese Super Cup six times. Ansar's major rivalry is with Nejmeh; dubbed the Beirut derby, it is the most anticipated game in Lebanon. Al Ahli Sporting Club Saida () is a football club based in Sidon, Lebanon, that competes in the . Ahli Saida last competed in the Lebanese Premier League in the 2011–12 season, where they were relegated after finishing in 12th position. Beirut Derby
The Beirut derby () is the name given in football to any match between cross-city rivals Ansar and Nejmeh. The derby has historically been the most anticipated game in Lebanon: both located in Beirut, Nejmeh and Ansar have shared the majority of Lebanese Premier League titles. Ansar holds 14 league titles, the most in the country, and Nejmeh have won nine, the second most. Ansar leads the head-to-head results in competitive matches with 43 wins to Nejmeh's 38. History Nejmeh and Ansar were both formed in the post-World War II period. Nejmeh, Arabic for "Star", were founded in 1945 in Beirut, shortly after the independence of Lebanon. Akhaa Ahli Aley Football Club (), commonly referred to as Akhaa Ahli Aley, Akhaa Ahli or simply Akhaa, is a football club based in Aley, Lebanon, that competes in the , and is primarily supported by the Druze community. Tadamon Sporting Club Sour (), known as Tadamon Sour or simply Tadamon, is a football club based in Tyre, Lebanon, that competes in the , and is primarily supported by the Shia Muslim community. Al Ahed Football Club () is a football club based in Ouzai, a district in Beirut, Lebanon, that competes in the Lebanese Premier League, the top flight of Lebanese football.
