The 2011–12 Club América, América season was the 65th professional season of Mexican Primera División, Mexico's top-flight football league. The season is split into two tournaments—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each with identical formats and each contested by the same eighteen teams. América began their season on July 25, 2011 against Querétaro F.C., Querétaro, América play their homes games on Sundays at 4:00pm local time. Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Club América, is a professional association football, football club based in Mexico City. Nicknamed ''Las Águilas'' (The Eagles), it competes in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football league system, Mexican football. The club was founded in 1916, and since 1959 has been owned by mass media company Televisa. The team plays its home games at Estadio Azteca, Estadio Banorte, the largest stadium in Latin America and List of association football stadiums by capacity, one of the largest in the world.
