2011–12 Club América Season
The 2011–12 Club América, América season was the 65th professional season of Mexican Primera División, Mexico's top-flight football league. The season is split into two tournaments—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each with identical formats and each contested by the same eighteen teams. América began their season on July 25, 2011 against Querétaro F.C., Querétaro, América play their homes games on Sundays at 4:00pm local time. Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Club América, is a professional association football, football club based in Mexico City. Nicknamed ''Las Águilas'' (The Eagles), it competes in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football league system, Mexican football. The club was founded in 1916, and since 1959 has been owned by mass media company Televisa. Juan Carlos Valenzuela Hernández (born 15 May 1984) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He is popularly known by his nickname "Topo". José Joaquín Martínez
José Joaquín Martínez Valadez (born 22 February 1987) is a former Mexican professional footballer who last played as a right-back. His nickname is ''Shaggy'', as he bears a resemblance to the Scooby-Doo character, Shaggy. Club career Martínez played 38 Primera División matches for Club América before being released in 2012. After spending several seasons at the Ascenso MX with Necaxa, Martínez would finally go on to re surge to first division with Pachuca. With Pachuca, Martínez has won a Liga MX title and has been essential part of Diego Alonso's tactics. Paul Nicolás Aguilar Rojas (born 6 March 1986) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Aguilar represented Mexico at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2011 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the Copa América Centenario. Diego Antonio Reyes Rosales (; born 19 September 1992) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Liga MX club Tigres UANL. He is an Olympic gold medalist. Reyes made his professional debut with Club América in April 2010. Three years later, he was transferred to Porto.
