2011–12 Biathlon World Cup – Pursuit Women
The 2011–12 Biathlon World Cup – Pursuit Women will start at Sunday December 4, 2011 in Östersund and will finish Sunday March 17, 2012 in Khanty-Mansiysk. Defending titlist is Kaisa Mäkäräinen of Finland. Competition format This is a pursuit competition. The biathletes' starts are separated by their time differences from a previous race, most commonly a sprint race.To be precise; the pursuit competition start intervals are determined by common rounding to the nearest whole second of the biathletes' time differences from the previous race – the amount of time each biathlete lagged after the winner to the finish line. The contestants ski a distance of over five laps. On four of the laps, the contestants shoot at targets; each miss requires the contestant to ski a penalty loop of . Svetlana Yuryevna Sleptsova (; born 31 July 1986 in Khanty Mansiysk) is a retired Russian biathlete. She is a member of the club CSKA (Central Sports Club of the Army). She is a three-time Junior World Champion and won the bronze medal in the mixed relay at the Biathlon World Championships 2008, 2008 World Championships in Östersund. Anna Ivanovna Bogaliy () (born 12 June 1979) is a retired Russian biathlete. She is 167 cm tall and weighs 58 kg. Biography She was born in Vozhega, Vologda Oblast, on 12 June 1979. Synnøve Solemdal (born 15 May 1989) is a Norwegian former biathlete. She competed for Norway at the 2014 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Solemdal won two bronze medals at the 2010 Junior World Championships. As of the 2010/2011 season she is part of the Norwegian team. On 11 December 2010, she along with her teammates placed third in 4 × 6 km relay in Hochfilzen. She took her first world cup victory in the 2012–13 season, moving up from 4th after the Sprint race to take the Pursuit in Hochfilzen. She repeated the feat the following year to claim her second victory, also in the pursuit in Hochfilzen during the 2013–14 season.
